I linked to Instagram for a reason...

Basically I'm getting irritated with the women runners going off on "men" for not feeling safe when they run. I'm an avid runner in East TN so of course the murder of the woman last year in Memphis and now this has been a topic of discussion. We run in groups quite a bit, especially when we marathon train and have to get up super early to get the miles in.

The women in the comments and the local women runner will throw a fit if you tell them to take precautions, like its a sexist suggestion. Some of the comments on that Instagram post that Runner's World posted are:

"This HAS to STOP!!!! Women should be able to go for a RUN without worrying about violence. Society needs to do better to raise men and hold them accountable for their actions. This is unacceptable!"

"What’s mind boggling is people commenting how we (women)need to do all these extra precautions because we are a female. Don’t wear this, don’t wear that, dont run with headphones, run with a weapon. I wonder what it’s like to be a male runner who literally never has to be worried about this happening."

Just how are we supposed to teach men not to do this that we aren't already doing? The men they are shrieking at and complaining to are the furthest from the problem and would be the first to step in and help them if they saw something going down. The criminal element is not going to be convinced not to kidnap, rape, or murder them by their slogan t-shirts, and they need to be careful and prepared.

Women should run in a safer town. Like Jackson, Miss.

This was on a nice street in East Memphis too. My sister and the victim's sister were roommates in Tuscaloosa years ago.

Good one. I laughed.

This is the main reason single women should have a dog. No one is going to bother a woman with a dog.

Someone needs to point out to these ladies that there is a zero percent chance of being attacked in their kitchen while making sammiches.

I run a lot. I see plenty of solo women running/walking. More often than not, they are in groups of two or more. Now, these are the better parts of Bham and not the sketchy parts.

Tell them to stop voting and advocating with their “feels” and vote and demand something actually be done.

It’s plain and simple irony these left wing Karen’s who sit in their subdivisions and vote blue and feel soo good about themselves are now starting to reap a little of the harvest.

New Yorkers got fed up with it once. Maybe Memphis will eventually.

She means black men, right?
If we're going to pretend not to notice that, why don't we just pretend to not notice it's men?

Strangers in ski masks (like those in the link) who abduct women off the street are generally "held accountable" for their actions if they are caught. "Society" may be blurry on acquaintance/date rape and drunken consent but I don't recall anyone heralding ski mask rapist murderers as good boys with bright futures. She's screeching unacceptable as if anyone is arguing that it is acceptable?

In theory, yes a woman should be able to run down the street in broad daylight without fearing abduction/rape/murder. But you live in Memphis so you already know this is akin to dropping a toddler into the lion's den at the zoo and being shocked when it ends badly.

Well, they can complain about having to do extra things for precaution or they can do those things that help protect themselves.

Anyone should take precautions and have awareness of your surroundings.

Life is not going to stop for their feelings.

So a runner in East Tennessee is telling runners in West Tennessee what they should be doing?

Those points are perfectly reasonable, I just don't think they make a good actual defense against someone who is determined to attack a lone woman.

Like good men have any control over sick and demented men. It's so dumb. Some men are evil. Deal with it and prepare. Stop blaming the good men for the deeds of others.

Solution is to be strapped if you run.

If you can use spandex to hold down big titties, you can use a holster to strap down a gun in case of being accosted.

Always best to alter your routine as well, in case someone is stalking your habits.

Run at different times in different places.

We need to start a campaign against this practice.

Works until one gets a concussion by getting slammed in the head by her massive tits.
