the guy they released doesn't work for the PD. Toddy, do you ever post factual stuff that not gay related? Seriously you have 3 topics on the front page that are just wrong.

Excellent point

Police tell witnesses "Don't be afraid to testify against the bad guys. we can protect you and it is your civic duty"

BUT..."we can't identify the cop....because we can't PROTECT HIM and it is not our civic duty"

I completely agree with this. I have friends that work for the police department, but until the Blue Line is broken up, I will never trust/respect the police as a whole. They cover their buddies asses like there's no tomorrow. If I see a fellow accountant breaking the rules, your damn right I'm going to report his arse. It makes us all look bad.

Did anyone hear the audio testimony of the victim's friend? It was weird. He never used the name.
IE, if I were walking with my buddy Bob and the cops shot Bob I would say:

"So, I was walking with Bob and the cop confronted Bob and asked Bob...."

instead he said...

"So, I was walking with my friend and the cop confronted my friend and asked my friend..."

Those are the kind of shitty articles that get innocent people killed. Irresponsible journalism.

Why on earth should this be "secret" anyway?

A PUBLIC SERVANT killed a member of the PUBLIC and we can't know who?

I'm not even saying he did anything wrong. I am simply saying to keep it from "us" is fricked up.

Safety? pffft....we all knew who Zimmerman was, etc.

frick our 'keep the public in the dark' overlords.

I think it's reasonable given the public response to date that the name be withheld until the investigation is completed.

It shouldn't be withheld forever.

by innocent people being killed I guess you mean the kid the cops shot, right?

if the police department would not be hiding the guy, the journalists wouldn't have done this

the police department is responsible for everything else that happens here including the riots and global warming

police dept says it not correct though

Read that a second ago. They are claiming he doesn't even work for the department or city.

However, someone on the OT ran him down as soon as this came out a few hours ago and said the guys FB page had recently been deactivated and other social media had his name changed

Would be interested in knowing if this was prior to them releasing the name or not.

Police can publicly name civilians as suspects, why can't they name a cop who is a suspect?

If the policy was to wit until the investigation was completed, you'd see year long investigations, minimum.

And as was also mentioned on the OT, Ferguson PD had been hacked by Anonymous and they were telling all officers to kill their social networking pages. And many of those officers were telling family and friends to do the same.

Cops can be a tight-knit community and this cop worked in a different St. Louis suburb. Maybe he did it for precautionary reasons after Anonymous got involved.

I am still absolutely amazed that his name hasn't leaked... There are at least a dozen people that know who he is and it hasn't slipped.

fricking incredible.

While I don't doubt they got it wrong, but do you really think those in charge would say "Oh, they got it right"... They would deny deny deny.

Like I said, I'm interested in what the OTer found. As soon as it came out, looked up the guy and all of his social network stuff had been deleted or changed. I'd wanna know if this was prior to his name coming out or after. If it was prior, there would be spoke there.

Ok, lets say that is the case... Definitely plausible. However, then the chief would be caught in a lie because he claimed the person that anon named doesn't work for the police or city.
