And we wonder why we have a "shortage of doctors".

This happened in Baton Rouge.

People like this should be hung in view of the public. I didn't realize the country was seeing an increase in nurses and doctors being attacked in hospital settings by patients and visitors.

LINK

Dontonyo Grey, 22, was booked into East Baton Rouge Parish Prison after authorities said he walked up to a doctor at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center and punched him, knocking him unconscious.

Once the doctor regained consciousness, he told East Baton Rouge sheriff's deputies he had no prior dealings with Grey. The doctor said he had never seen Grey before the incident.

The incident happened about 5 p.m. at the hospital at 5000 Hennessy Blvd. Grey told deputies he punched the doctor because "he felt like it" and "it would happen again."

Sociopaths abound, and given the Marxist 'entitlement/victim' mindset that is fundamental to Egalitarian Ideology...there will be little compunction for these sickos to act toward those they deem 'successful'.

Cain v Able. Envy. Even clinically healthy people can be ate up with that. There is some kind of grand culling/education process in our near future...Bible prophecy nws.

I read that article and the part that stood out to me was that a lot of nurses are angry that the hospitals they work for aren't doing enough to protect them. As if the ratio of healthcare workers in hospitals being assaulted is like 1 out of every 4, and not 1 in a thousand. What exactly is "enough" protection? An armed guard in every room? Restraining the arms of every patient that comes in?

The guy got knocked out. Having a gun wouldn’t have helped.

You shooting him for knocking someone out wouldn’t do you any favors either.

Most hospitals forbid concealed carry. That is something that needs to change.

While that guy should be jailed for years...

I don't think college aged adults are saying to themselves "Well I'd go to medical school but don't want to get randomly punched one day"

There are many reasons. Getting sucker punched in the hospital isn't high on the list though.

Example 157 to show white liberals that even free "doctorin'" will never placate the hood rats, as they hoped.

Many other reasons. I'm phasing myself out of my medical practice and over to all industrial. I've had enough. I'm tired of insurances and gov't dictating my worth and essentially putting caps on what I can make. I can't invest in nor benefit from my own success in any way other then direct pt care. No other industry restricts professionals in any way like medicine does. I'm tired of seeing hospital and insurance executives making more than the doctors that do the work and assume the liability. And the only reason we need them is because we aren't allowed to own or run jack shite ourselves. If I continue to see pt's, it will be cash only and for a select few. Luckily, I've seen this shite coming since I decided to go to med school and have invested outside of the medical field and saved enough to haul arse when I decide to.

Not to mention the general lack of respect for physicians now and social media bullshite. I enjoy practicing medicine. I enjoy patient care and for the most part I enjoy the interactions with the vast majority of my patients. But all the bullshite, stress, and sacrifice is no longer justified with decreased reimbursements and increased overhead. Unless major changes occur, I'll be retiring in 4-5 years. And before someone pulls their, "Shrug Atlas...someone will take your place." I'm the youngest doctor in this area by about 15-20 years. Nobody's shown interest in coming here and staying in the 15 years I've been in practice except the one doctor I recruited. The rest are in their sixties and a couple in late 50's. All looking to get out as soon as they can.

Hope it works out otherwise, but each year since Obamacare passed has been increasingly worse. I don't have the time, need or energy to put up with the bullshite anymore, and I'm not alone.

true. best to let the police handle it. I figure as he sat there in that dark cell he'd start thinking about his life. He would be so overcome with grief and then up and hang himself.

I agree with some of this but just to put it out there, doctors are the wealthiest profession in the country. So while it is a nuisance part of the reason doctors get fed up and move into other ventures is because they have capital to do so in a way a teacher cannot.

More common than people realize. I've had to physically subdue people on numerous occasions. Almost all in the ER. Couple times in the office. Didn't work out for them as they planned. Unfortunately when we do defend ourselves with force, no matter how justified, we open ourselves up to litigation. Many are too scared of legal ramifications to take action. The shitheads get bolder and bolder. I never gave a shite. My redneck background precludes me from being passive when me or a coworker is threatened or under attack. I'll take my chances with local law enforcement and judges.

I hope this racist gets raped in jail. And I hope it's gets worse every time he tries it since he said that it won't be his last time.

He needs to die early and painfully, this is what racist human piece of shite acts like.

Burn him alive after his 2nd conviction.

Your perspective is interesting, but not so accurate. In the past, many doctors did fine, but they worked damn hard to do so, and only got the opportunity after years of long and extremely competitive training.

Obamacare changed the dynamic. It dramatically increased overhead and decreased revenue. It dramatically empowered insurance vs MD's. It empowered and emboldened facilities to push MDs into employment rather than independent practice. Post-2012 is a different word for US physicians.

Under obamacare, costs and payments increased. However distribution of revenue is shunted away from providers and to the most effective lobbying groups --- Hospitals/HospitalAdministrators and Insurance Companies. Not good!

All that is fine but does not take away from the accuracy of what I said. Doctors are still the richest demographic. I am on their side but believe in being factual. By all means they can go into healthcare administration but they won’t. The pay isn’t as good and the job sucks. Maybe once you work to the top but to suggest that hospital administrators somehow get rich while doctors suffer is inaccurate. I work with both and see good and bad from both.

Additionally, the number of med school slots and residencies are limited by their own kind. That keeps the numbers low on purpose. Basically they have imposed limits on competition where my industry does not. I know the argument is you want the best but there are plenty of qualified people in line that could be accepted but were not. These are facts. Doesn’t mean the issue doesn’t have many facets but it still matters.

Welcome to the pre-2005 world. I'd guess there are north of 75 hospital administration staffers in Charlotte alone who are paid more than the highest reimbursed pediatrician in the metroplex.
