Love how most of the replies were saying Landry is an idiot. Yeah, let's justify the stupidity of the New Orleans antics.

She wasn’t indicted for her opinion. It was her ham fisted attempt at intimidation, apparently…

Sources tell WDSU that members of the empaneled grand jury initiated the grand jury investigation themselves, which is highly uncommon but legal.
I asked Gemini to explain this. Below is what it came up with.
quote:
There is actually a common misconception here: Louisiana law does not have a provision that allows citizens to empanel their own grand jury through a signature petition.
?In Louisiana, the power to convene or request a grand jury rests strictly with the state's judicial and prosecutorial branches. Under Louisiana Code of Criminal Procedure Article 437, a grand jury is automatically impaneled by the court in each parish to inquire into capital offenses. Additionally, the court will order further investigations or empanel additional grand juries (Art. 415.1) only when requested by the District Attorney or ordered directly by the court itself.
While a private citizen in Louisiana has the right to approach an existing grand jury or the District Attorney to request an investigation into a crime, they cannot bypass them to force one into existence.
If the above is true, I'd like to know what private citizen approached the existing empaneled jury.

Still shitty reporting.
It’s only telling a portion of the story. “Records show”. What records?
If it’s a mandatory $25k bond per count then say that.
The typical process with a grand jury indictment would be an indictment, warrant, arrest, and then arraignment where bond is typically set.
As it is currently being reported its indictment and then bond.
So yeah. It’s shitty reporting everywhere.

This reads to me like they were empaneled as a GJ, heard some cases, but then went rogue and said “hey, what about the AG and those letters” then went with that. The interesting part to me is what role the prosecutor has to play in ensuring the GJ stays without the bounds of the law. Could she have stopped them even if she wanted to?

So you can be indicted for being "ham fisted"? Well, the old saying is a grand jury can indict a ham sandwich.
I like how Dane Ciolino phrased it - "Theater of the absurd"

Incidentally, Moreno can kiss her agenda good bye. If she thinks the state is going to continue bailing N.O. out every time they go begging to Baton Rouge she is full of shite

The two sheriff system was a crock to begin with but NOLA is full of inept people. In fact it is worse than the most remote places in West Virginia

In Louisiana, a lot of people think of Dems/GOP, that's not where the real lines are drawn, if it were, JBE could not have been elected. A lot of the factions from are still left over from the Longs, new ones form every election.
One of my closest is considering a run for governor, he's from N.O., waste of time, but it will be fun. When was the last time someone from N.O. sniffed the governors mansion? Jimmy Fitzmorris came close to beating EWE the first time he ran, before that John McKeithen upset N.O. Mayor Chep Morrison.
Some of you peeps need to learn some LA history and dynamics. D v. R isn't as important, but if you can get a 'Certified Cajun' label, different ballgame.

Yeah, pretty stupid to die on the hill of a clerk that didn’t need to exist. Much bigger counties and cities do not have two clerks.

Meh, that didn't hold water in the past.
FTR, an uncle's company (he was one of 4 partners) let the Edwards campaign use their two twin engine planes to for his run at governor. One was for Edwards and staff, the other for the press corps. If you think that traveling for free left the press with an unbiased opinion, think again. Gulf Coast PreMix made bank with those planes for the Edwards two terms and sold out before the 2nd ended to much larger drilling fluids company. Where they made bank was the drilling on state leases and that was drilled a lot in the 1970s.
Why do you think that BR is more redneck and not very Cajun? Decades of North Louisiana influence.
Landry has the same financial backing as JBE did, the ambulance chasers.

Murril is likely to be the next governor assuming Landry wins re-election She will take over in 2031.

How she handles this farce of an indictment from VOR and his comrades in Nola could he important in that regard.
If she shows that she has a set of balls, leftists like yourself might even vote for her (you are team tranny…it’s okay, we all know).
