It took me a long time to come around to this line of thinking.

Well, I believe that it was these same ‘religious leaders’ who once had this man called Jesus nailed to a cross because he wasn’t following them and falling in line. Now, I’m supposed to all of a sudden listen to their almighty wisdom because they know better?
Same story, different characters.
Personal Faith > Organized Religion.

Funny that your the one to bring this to our attention.

Not sure if you aware, but a frick ton of conspiracy theories have been proven correct lately.
A scary number, actually.

It's just that the contingent here is so strangely misrepresentative of my experience with A&M people. It'd be like 80% of Bama fans here being wildly rabid fans of women's soccer and uninterested in football.

Because conspiracy theories by the "elite" left aren't considered conspiracies by these authors I am sure.
Let's see, does:
- Trump/Russia
- Trump Tax returns
- Trump more emoluments clause
- Trump hookers, golden showers
- Trump can't fire people
and many more sound familiar? All debunked conspiracy theories from hard core leftists.

Is it really a "theory" when churches aren't permitted to open and pastors are jailed for holding services while people committing armed robbery are caught and released "because COVID"?

Would Russian collusion be an example of this? The dossier? Are these the kind of things you are talking about?
I'm sure that is not what he means. He is referring to the really wacko conspiracy theories. Like GHWB getting on a jet fighter plane to fly to Iran and beg the Ayatollah not to release the hostages until Reagan has been inaugurated. Thank god the people on the left are so logical and rational that they are immune to conspiracy theories.

I understand the concept.
However I remember reading the conspiracy theory that the United States had phone calls on the Boston bombers before they were bombers meaning they collected information on everyone. I along with many others thought this was insane. Guess what?
Again I thought much of Trump's cluster about wire taps were typical conspiracy bluster. Guess what?
We could go on.
My window of what is a believable conspiracy theory had widened significantly.
Just because you think everyone is out to get you doesn't mean that they are not...

Here are the facts:
1. COVID originated in Wuhan China likely from the Wuhan research laboratory.
2. It is undetermined whether the release is intentional or not.
3. China hid the contagiousness of virus for months. They did not allow U.S. official in to help stop the spread of virus.
4. The virus spread throughout the world.
5. Trump banned travel form China in late January.
6. Pelosi and many Democrat leaders were calling Trump xenophobic and calling for public gatherings well into February.
7. The virus still spread and hit and continue to hit people with comorbities hard.
8. Government health officials with OMB count people that die with and from COVID as a COVID death. Government health officials without OMB count only people that die FROM COVID as a COVID death (See Colorado).
9, Politicians and people with OMB err on the side of tyranny because their political bias compels them to make things go bad as possible to hurt Trump in November. Examples, governor of Michigan, governor of Washington State, mayor of New York, mayor of New Orleans, etc., etc. These people due to political bias have also moved the goal post from flattening the curve to now, "we won't get back to normal until we find a vaccine." See mayor of LA.
10. Politicians and people without OMB that err on the side of liberty say we have reached our original goal of flattening the curve and it is now time to open up. Stop moving the goal post on us. Examples, governor Ron Disantis, governor Kemp, Orange County sheriff, etc., etc.
That is were we are. It is irresponsible for media types in the OP to call people conspiracy theorists when all these people are doing is calling out the alarmists with OMB. It's not a conspiracy. It's politics. People that hate Trump want a bad economy well into November so OMB does not get reelected. They are rooting for every action that will keep the economy from recovering.

- Trump Tax returns
Isn't it amazing how once they were released Trump's tax returns proved to be such a huge nothing?
Wait a minute! The truth is that Trump is fighting so desperately to keep his income taxes from seeing the light of day that he has taken his "case" to keep his finances hidden from the American people all the way to the supreme court.
After saying during the 2016 campaign that he would release his tax returns after his audit, he now has dragged the case before his stacked supreme court in order to keep his finances hidden from America.
Yes, it's probably best to keep Trump's tax shitshow off of your little list of "debunked" conspiracy theories, don't ya think?

This isn't entirely wrong. But you have to add the media in this as well.
I would re=phrase the original claim to say something more like, "Conspiracy theories are plausible because the government is evil, etc., etc."
We've always had conspiracy theories. The weaponizing of the US government and the complicity of the media didn't cause them. They did make them plausible, however.

Probably nothing, of course.
Why else would he be so adamant that they remain forever hidden from public scrutiny, right?

I can think of any number of reasons.
You were the one who seemed to be suggesting it would be for something nefarious, so I thought perhaps that you might have had something specific in mind.
