Right, so have they already been "everywhere" here in the US? There sure are a lot of down votes in here. Maybe instead someone can explain what's going on better. In still not understanding why one would need to travel so far to help people.

You say this as if there is zero chartable organizations within the USA and there is zero help, that is flawed and quite frankly ignorant logic. Who dictates how and who you are chartable with?

I do not understand exactly why people do things like this. Is there not people here in the US that need the same sort of services these people are providing? Or is it like some sort of vacation to them?

I don’t know, maybe because the last words of their savior on this earth were to go to ALL NATIONS and share his Gospel. You may not buy it and think it’s a load of crock, but to act like it’s beyond comprehension is odd. As long as Christianity has existed there have been missionaries.

These are the kind of naive idiots that are getting other people killed both here and abroad. The father is wanting to send in an armored car to get his daughter out? How about just staying in your own damn country instead of spreading your liberal BS around the world? As if that’s not bad enough, I’m sure they would’ve “sponsored” some more 3rd world losers into this country through some kind of looney church group. At least now there are 2 less do gooders to preach equality to us all

A wise man once referred to Haiti as a "shithole" country. This is evidence that he was spot on.

Where do you see that this couple were leftisst? I know a ton of missionaries and none of them are of the left. Even if they were leftist rejoicing in their death is insanely cold to me.

They can call themselves whatever they want. Flying to another country with your white wife or girlfriend and putting yourself in harms way to preach to Africans about ANYTHING is about as cuckoo liberal as it gets

You ever heard the story of Jim Elliot? Missionaries have been putting themselves in harms way for centuries. It has nothing to do with cuckoo liberalism. A soldier dies in the line of duty and we celebrate the heroisms.A missionary dies advancing a message they believe helps the world and they are called idiots. At least they died for a cause they felt was worth dying for.

Brother, this nation and most of the western world was settled amongst cannibalism, human sacrifice, burning people alive, racism and a host of other evils. We have come from tribes killing each other daily and raping anything left over to some semblance of law and order. It came to be by those who loved and cared. That evil has come to flourish so much now is largely due to indifference of decent people.

I'm one of them. God bless those two for they were far stronger than I will ever be.

I hope their families can find some form of peace- and I pray that their suffering was limited.

The US government does NOT supply the gospel.

As has been alluded to, these missionaries were fulfilling their calling to share the Great Commision. They were not on vacation or attention getting.

Should the apostles have not gone out since most were martyred? What about missionaries who have given their lives for the gospel throughout history?

Something all should realize is that humans are eternal beings with eternal destinies. All, and this includes the readers of this thread, will stand before God to give an account. Because of the work of Jesus Christ, who took the penalty for our sins, Christians, those who have genuinely received Him as Savior, will stand as righteous because of Christ's righteousness. Those who reject the gospel will not because all have sinned and fall short of God's glory, which is our ultimate purpose in creation.

As I have suggested previously, those wanting to explore this should read The Reason for God by Timothy Keller and/or Mere Christianity by C. S. Lewis.

Two white christians killed by foreigners? AWESOME!!

I dont know about that, they want those people here. And they will kill the liberals too.

This would show that Trump is right, about murderers and rapists. I would think they dont want these stories out.

Sad about this; my church also does missions in far-flung places.

To be fair, we do some mission work locally, too.

My thing is: let’s keep it all local - there’s plenty of need right here without playing Sisyphus in all the shite holes of the world.

Guess I’m not your ideal evangel…

This is nonsensical. You should read up on what happened to Jesus' disciples. Missionaries are fully aware of what they could be getting themselves into.

Of course I understand why they do it. However it doesn't negate the fact that they are naive and see the world as everyone is Godly.

Sorry I would demand my kids not got to places like Haiti. He'll Mexico for me is now off limits it's now as dangerous as Chicago and New Orleans.

Probably attention. They can go to social media and post pictures saying "look we are helping". All for attention.

This is one of the most ignorant and offensive things I’ve ever read on this site. You have no clue about this family and their calling.

I happen to have been around these folks a few times and they are wonderful people that have been in Haiti for more than 20 years. In fact, if you look it up, Davy (the man that was murdered) spent most of his life in Haiti and was actually kidnapped there as a 5 year old boy in the early 2000s, but was safely returned. They knew the dangers but felt called to do the work. They run a large orphanage, feed over 600 homeless people, and have a ton of outreach. This is a horrible, heart rending tragedy.

It’s not for attention and your comment is despicable.

No reason to go to an unstable, gang infested, shithole. There are advisories to not visit Haiti and as a whole, Haiti doesn't want to help itself.

I hope there was no suffering at the end. My thoughts and heart are with this beautiful, well intentioned couple and their families.

Was there on mission trips in 2013 and 2014. What’s happening now is proof how a society can devolve quickly.

Granted it wasn’t exactly the caymans in 2014, but I never felt unsafe driving through Port au Prince or the countryside (at least the areas we were in).
