What guys hate Israel?
We have some raging antisemites around here. Read a Lima Whiskey post.
quote:
Do you love Israel? And why, if you do?
Nope. I've never been there, and honestly don't care to ever visit.
quote:
Do you think that they are "keeping your terrorist friends over there in line?"
Right now, yes. And as long as they are the primary thorn in the side of the Islamists, fewer will be exported here.
quote:
If they're so sovereign, do they need US taxpayers paying for their defense system?
Accepting foreign aid doesn't somehow magically wipe away sovereignty. Personally I'm a proponent of scaling down all foreign aid, but in the hierarchy of waste, I'm putting places like Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Yemen much higher on the chopping block.
See the response above as to why.
quote:
Then again, are we sovereign if we have to pay Israel annual dues? Is it Israel first, or America first?
Yeeeah. Your biases are being exposed. How do you feel about paying dues to Ukraine? What about us funding the militaries of Egypt and Jordan?
quote:
If it's up to them to punish their invaders, why do they need our taxpayer dollars?
I have no clue if they need our money. As I said above, I think we should begin cutting out foreign aid. I will add, however, that if our foreign aid to Israel is what's keeping Iran at bay, I don't have much of a problem with it.
Until Islamists learn to live in the 21st century, they are a threat to all of the West. I'm sorry, that's just the way it is.

I am very biased about helping Israel expand their nation. Biased in that I don't think we need to be involved in nation building or expanding for anyone other than our own.
For me to want to send any other country US taxpayer hard earned or borrowed money, I would want to be convinced. I'm sure there are a handful of reasons, but in general, we seem to have more needs here that we can't handle, including a $36trillion debt that we're handing to our kids and grandkids.
(And that includes Israel, Ukraine, Egypt, Syria, etc, etc)

You may be right, but what exactly have we done over there in the last 50 years that has improved that situation, versus what have we done over there that has exacerbated this? And to what cost to America?

I agree with your assessment. However, if you believe that God Almighty will curse and crush the USA and all Americans if the USA doesn't do whatever it must to help Israel, then, it makes sense.
So, whether or not you agree with the USA being "Israel First" depends on your Religion.
I appreciate your response, friend.
I've been in a Southern Baptist church for most of my life, so I've heard the words that you speak of. My two little thoughts on that:
1. I can not connect the dots between a loving God and one who is amenable to US/Israel slaughtering, and starving women and children like we are in Gaza, by the tens of thousands, or more.
2. I've heard some of my Christian friends suggest that the current Israel, either the nation, or it's leadership, is simply not the nation of Abraham as they claim or supposedly are. That seems plausible to me.
I've enjoyed discussing it with you. Enjoy the new year.

If he had his army rape and kill women and children? Light them on fire. Parade them dead to cheering crowds.
I guess that is fine with you. Palenstine elected Hamas and never held another election. They fricked around and they deserve to find out.

Let me guess, you watch all the anti-Israel conspiracy loons (sachs, mearsheimer, Ritter, Dave smith) that make the rounds on YouTube channels saying the US is doing the bidding for Netanyahu to conquer Syria and Lebanon.
What’s extremely telling to me about all the bullshite is a Dave smith podcast I watched about Syria.
He began the podcast by saying he wasn’t an expert on the Syria situation (ie assad removal) but spent the next 45 min rambling about Netanyahu, Israel and the cia.
The very next video I watched on Syria was an interview with rand Paul. He spoke for 20 minutes on Syria; he mentioned iran and Russia, along with turkey. Not once did he mention Israel, Netanyahu or mossad. He vehemently said America needed to withdraw the 900 or so folks we have over there and not involve ourselves any further.
Considering that Paul is one of the most honest and “America first” politicians, his words (or lack thereof) confirmed all my suspicions about the anti-Israel alt media pundits; they’re simply contrarians for the sake of being contrarian.

Good morning TIgerMyth,
I'm not sure who "he" is.
I'm guessing you're well aware that Israel hasn't been abiding by the territorial boundaries that they agreed to 2006, right?
I'm guessing you're aware that Israel is an apartiheid state, where they penned up a group of people, pointed automated machine guns at them, and rationed the energy, and food (on a calorie basis to just over starving). And occasionally "mowed the yard", as in kill a a few thousand for population control.
So, Israel, routinely did to Palestine what Hamas actors did on October 7. Are both gruesome and inhumane? Absolutely. Was it unexpected? Of course not.
Israel propped up Hamas for years in an effort to keep Gaza and the West Bank separate.
It's not like it was some so called democracy like we (supposedly) have in the US. It's not people that can barely find enough to eat can just up and have an election next month. Heck, you see the garbage we go through in the US to have a "fair" election, and we're supposedly first world.
Israel moved into the region in 1900 and quickly realized that they would suffer bloodshed their for a long time if they wanted to build a nation there. I'm okay with their attempts to do so, but I wish they'd do it own their own. Not with US financial support "no matter what".
It takes away from our own financial freedom and puts American lives directly in harms way.
It's not as easy as "FAFO", but I know that's the convenient narrative and Israel has Fox, CNN, NBC and almost every clergy and politician repeating it to keep the money flowing to Israel, and into our oligarch defense contractors.
What do you know about AIPAC and it's influence in every congressman's life?

Maybe, just maybe, the MSM pushes Israel's side? I think the rest of the planet sees the conflict differently than the U.S., U.K., Israel, but whatever. I know everyone here laughs at international organizations like the ICC. That's fine, we can shite on them, but don't complain when the "rules-based international order" starts to look like whatever the U.S. and Israel decide it is that day.

I appreciate that sentiment, but I think there's a handful of people in this nation and on this board that do give a frick,
about America
about US taxpayer dollars
about American lives
about humanity
Certainly, many that don't, but I still have hope to get through some of this Israel First propaganda.

You are so much more knowledgeable, well-spoken and energetic than me.
I thank you so much for your work in helping provide our dear citizens with the truth that is not readily apparent in our corporate and MIC/AIPAC media and government.
Truly the work of a patriot. Thank you!

Do you not understand why we fund Egypt and Jordan? Specifically Egypt.
Btw, in the hierarchy of our historical foreign aid, far and away number 1 is Israel, followed by Ukraine because of the last 2 years, and then there is Egypt well ahead of the rest at 3.
Why are they so high? People barely think about Egypt in relation to the US.
Well, as part of the camp David negotiations, we give them economic and military aid. What this translates to in layman’s terms is we bribe Egypt to not attack Israel.
So, yeah. About that aid to Egypt and Jordan…

It seems like if Israel wanted the people in Gaza dead, they would not allow doctors in that could help people as well as report about what is going on. Why is Israel allowing this?
You can also find articles dating back to Dec of 2023 discussing the famine beginning to take place in Gaza and you can now find articles as late as yesterday discussing famine beginning to take place. These people have been starving to death for the last 15 months. Does it take 15 months to starve to death?
Israel could have wiped that place clean ten times over by now. What are they waiting on?
