AI can already write computer software at the level of an entry level developer.
But Bubba the Welder thinks it will never be able to teach a robot to weld

I still feel sorry for all of the wheelwrights who were put out of work when people stopped buying carriages.

When the robots try to take over they will need humans to fight them. Walmart and Popeyes employees already being heavily recruited.

You just pop up every now and then, pillage and plunder, and fade away.

The Amazon jobs are indeed due to AI.

The UPS job losses are due to tariffs.

No, this is a good thing! Soon you can sit at home and the government will send you a check so you can focus on writing your novel or painting or all those other things you always see people in government housing doing.

or...

People said the invention of the wheel would put everyone out of business too, but look at us now! The finance companies that run the world economy are absolutely dumping everything in AI to create new jobs for humans that cost salaries, benefits, raises, insurance, etc. Just like China and the rest of the countries these same financiers have gotten rich off for years truly pay their "employees" a fair, stable wage.

AI is about war and a few people getting really, really rich. Same story, different and more dramatic verse.

Aren't UPS and FedEx usually staffing up at this point in the year ?

Holiday deliveries are going to be a real fiasco.

There is a video on Youtube i watched a year ago about a modern car factory (i want to say it was Tesla) and i was amazed at how few humans there were. The humans were basically there at the end to check over everything. Maybe a few things were installed by people but very little. I think EVs are much easier to produce with robots (less parts). The robots were doing the welding.

There's a LOT of denial out there. I spoke with someone in data analytics over the weekend and asked him if he was worried about AI, he said no one in his field he had talked to was worried about it.

To me, data analytics is what AI does already so why wouldn't it be easily transferrable to human-held positions?

Full-time UPS drivers pulling +$100,000/yr makes zero sense. No wonder they're cutting jobs.
