How much of that is due to Amazon rolling out its own delivery networks and relying less on UPS and FedEx?

You say that as if that just happened.

Amazon has had a massive delivery network for years now

You and your damn facts aren't welcome on the PT !

UPS laying off 48k ? It's because of Amazon
Amazon laying off 30k ? Drop in bucket
Ford laying off 11k ? They had a fire

I love this board.

It's what they voted for, right?

I'm not a Democrat, but I call a spade a spade.
This board would be losing their minds if these massive job losses were happening with a Democrat in office.
But since Trump is in office it's no big deal, just trimming a little fat.

Which they should since that was during the height of the dead ball era

So that makes his Home Run achievements even more impressive.
Yet another reason Babe is The GOAT.

When you have 1.55 million employees, yes 30k is just trimming a little fat.

As for Ford, there was a massive fire that closed Novelis Aluminum plant in New York, that supplies most of their material. There are general issues with the aluminum supply chain right now, which is why they are pausing production and doing layoffs in their KC plant that build the F150. They've also halted production of the Lightning and slowed other EV production, which is causing layoffs as well.

All that said, yes there are a lot of cuts happening. Most companies over-hired during the covid era and many are looking to cut 10% of staff or more. Not a good environment right now.

UPS is cutting 48k which is 10% of its work force.
Is that just a little trimming ?
UPS & Fed Ex are a reflection of economic activity.
Spin it however you want, but this jobs market is in free fall.

The job market has been abysmal this year

But a lot of these firms were probably carrying a lot of bloat

UPS 48K ?
Amazon 30k ?
Intel 24K ?
Ford 11K ?

Yeah, just trimming a little fat:lol:
It's cute that you think that.

100 years from now people will still be talking about Babe Ruth.
100 years from now people will say "Shohei who ?".

Not a Democrat.
Not a spammer.
I merely posted factual information in the OP.
Feel free to debunk the numbers in the OP.
I'm guessing you won't, because they are facts.

Recent Layoff Announcements.

Is this the booming job market/economy they keep telling us about ?

The market isn’t going to fall until unemployment really spikes. As long as white-collar workers keep funneling 10–15% of their paychecks into 401(k)s,

Are these the workers you're counting on pumping money into their 401k's ?
Artificial Intelligence is going to do to white collar jobs what offshoring did to blue collar jobs.

You people need help.
Go check the stock price of NOK when I posted the OP.
Go check the stock price high of the day, and current price.
Some of you have mental issues, and I'm not even joking.
Bunch of F'ing weirdos.
You wasted your day being a f'ing psycho when you could have been making 10% on NOK today from my post.

You do you brother

Sweet summer child

AI can already write computer software at the level of an entry level developer.
But Bubba the Welder thinks it will never be able to teach a robot to weld

Hhhmm, this tone gives the vibes of someone who has been here before. You joined 11 days ago, first post in on the OT-Lounge and second post is ont the money board. This would be a very strange entry point for a newbie. Those were also thread starting posts, which would be equally out of character for new posters.

In your latest post you responded to el Gaucho, as if he was serious, which then tells us you are not from these parts.

Is your Tin Foil Hat too tight ?

Holy crap there are some weirdos on this board.
I posted Breaking News so others might make money on this Breaking News.
All I get in return are a bunch of nutjobs making bizarre accusations.
Had you purchased NOK when I posted the Breaking News you would currently be up over 10% on NOK on the day.

Take care little buddy, I'm going to look for ways to make another 10% tomorrow.

If you lost your job to a robot were you working that hard to begin with? They could never teach a robot how to weld

Tell me that you're clueless about AI without telling me that you're clueless about AI
Meanwhile Nvidia, Palantir, AMD CEO's were all on CNBC today saying how Artificial Intelligence will create jobs, not kill jobs.

Yeah, that's why companies are spending 100's of Billions on AI, so they can increase their labor costs.

You got me.
I created this account 11 days ago so I could post Breaking News from today.
Because I have the ability to see 11 days into the future.
I was just trying to help others make money on this breaking news.
I jumped on NOK and sold for a quick 10% gain.
I thought maybe some of you might be interested in making 10% in 10 minutes.
Apparently I was wrong.
Don't worry, next time I won't waste my time.

Take care.
Stock halted and then jumped 20%.

NOK has $42 Billion Market Cap (So stake is over 2%).
