Cville is a great town. It's a shame these morons, city council and Wes Bellamy in particular, want to ruin it.
None of this would have happened if they didn't try to remove a statue that they, by state code, are legally prohibited from touching.
Such a beautiful place with a great history. It's only a matter of time before these clowns go after Jefferson, who is basically the entire reason the place exists today.

They kicked off the whole statue mess.
By following George Soro's instructions.

Street theater politics has been around since the Roman days, if not longer. And the monster always turns on the maker.

I wonder what the university will be like by the time I have college age kids.
Hopefully W&L and Hampden Sydney don't change too much.

By telling the police to back off and not keeping the protesters separated.

Maybe they should put them in Time Out and tell them to stop that

When you light a fire and fan the flames, sometimes it becomes uncontrollable.

My roommate from law school as well as a bunch of other guys from my high school graduated from W&L. They are all extremely liberal. I've been wanting to ask them if it makes their heads explode to continue to show pride in their alma mater that is named after Robert E. Lee.

Reminds me of the film "Billy Jack," except the people are not peaceful and the town is not being a bunch of bigots. Oh, there is no Billy Jack either.

They're just trying to copy what every BR metro council meeting looks like these days

If the cops were allowed to start cracking skulls 1960's style then we wouldn't have this horse shite.

So many questions about this.
What was being protested here? Was it that city council that was pushing the removal of the statues? Was it that city council was resisting the removal of the statues?
Why is "blood on their hands"? For pushing the statue removal? For approving the "Unite the Right Permit"? For rescinding the "Unite the Right Permit" and sending the day into further chaos? For failing to make those without a permit (i.e., counter protesters) disperse? For failing to maintain law and order with the police in the midst of the protesters/counter-protesters? Failing to shut down the city during the protests?
What arguments were the protesters at this City Council making? What are they asking the City Council to do here?
I saw them hugging and cheering when the council terminated the meeting and left. Was that their end game? I guess forcing the government to terminate a meeting would be a victory for anarchists by definition. So were these anarchists here?

Well if two groups of violent idiots get off of buses for a "protest" in riot gear, and your orders as leaders are to allow them to fight, then yeah, you should hold some responsibility when someone gets hurt.
I know accountability isn't a strong suit of team blue, that's how it works for those of us in the real world.
