A good time to do this would have been before the ballots were set.

Let's say that's the case, is it illegal? Trump/GOP playbook is to do things that may be unethical but not illegal if it serves their purpose, seems like a mute point unless there is a law against it

You can laugh about it if you want, but there are voters who have lower IQs, who have disabilities, or who are easily confused. They should be able to vote without efforts like this to trick them into voting for the wrong person.
This is simply a shitty tactic by shitty people to attempt to disenfranchise those voters, because Democrats can't win on the policies that are core to their principles.
I would be willing to bet Joe Biden would have difficulty in the voting booth with a similar choice.
Once again, no one is surprised to see you rushing in to defend and justify unethical tactics by Democrats from your "unbiased" point of view.

SFP is now chatting with his latest alter. You'd think half a million posts on his original account would be enough.

It may not be illegal but lying to the Alaska Supreme Court probably is. According to articles I read, everyone associated with this testifed that it was organic and they had nothing to do with it. Apparently there is proof that it was all lies. Does it rise to criminal charges or disbarment, unfortunately it depends on what party those deciding this situation belong to.

If this was pulled from a Reddit post it would be relentlessly mocked here (as it should be).

Serious question. If it is found to be truthful that the Democrat party sought out a person with the same name in a clearly purposeful effort to confuse voters. What’s to stop it from happening in every race moving forward? Assume there’s a candidate named John Smith who meets all the requirements and is the lead contender for either party. The opposition then finds 2,3,4,5,100 other John Smith’s to fill the paperwork out to run for office And to make it on the official ballot. Is this to be allowed As well?

Mocked why? Because elderly people get confused, like Joe Biden not remembering when he was VP or when his son died? He shouldn't get a vote?
Because some people born with disabilities, like Down Syndrome, have votes that count as much as yours?
Maxine Waters and Mazie Hirono would be screwed if you put that ballot in front of them.

That is a good article.
There is nothing you can do about the ballot, let's just hope DOJ doesn't drop the ball on this.

The only way to stop it is to make the Party doing it pay at elections.
Problem is, both sides are guilty of dirty tricks so it just turns into both sides bitching about the other side has done and people who don't follow this shite as closely as most of us are just put off by the arguing and don't care.

One last thought - any ideas on why the NYT, of all outlets, published this story a week before the election?
This is the sort of thing I feel like they would wait till after the election to break on, given how much cover they have provided Democrats over the last 10 years.
Maybe because the former campaign chair would go somewhere else? Or is there something about Peltola that pisses off powerful Democrats?
The "trick" has backfired. It is only going to help the incumbent Senator at this point.

incumbent by sullivans name should tell them who the candidate is, if they can read

Correct.

It shouldn't, and crazy that it does.

The mental capacity and decision making skills of Maxine Waters should not be the basis of any argument you want to win.

I understand what you are saying, but the fact that the Democratic Party went out to recruit a man with the same name is just downright dirty.
I have a feeling that it might be illegal, but just the idea that they did it is enough for me to call them out.

There is only SFP. There are no alters. Only people capable of voting for the wrong person in Alaska think I have alters.
