She flat out said that she didn't realize it until recently, but she got to grow up in the best place and time ever.

Your mom is totally correct - I grew up in that same timeframe = perhaps five years earlier. Compared to today, it was paradise - even though we were not rich in monetary terms, but the quality of life was close to heaven compared to today's dystopia.

I grew up in a small Louisiana town in the 90s. It wasn’t as good as the 50s and 60s but it was pretty close. Insanely safe compared to today, very religious, traditional and parents disciplined their kids.

Yeah, it was a great time in this country ... I was there. Although, we did have issues in the 60s with LSD and Vietnam and LBJ, etc. Kennedys assassinated. Hippies. Integration.
But we didn't have social media. TV shows were wholesome ... a lot of live, variety TV shows. Hollywood was divided between commies and Conservatives. Network news was commie, even then, we just didn't know it.
The 50s were peak.
I literally had a long conversation with my Mom tonight ... a child of the 30s and 40s. She gave birth to me at 17. Dad and she were married for 70 years. It was just a different time.
It's all what we make of it ... life.
