She should have just dismissed the charges before letting it go before the jury.

It's official, the activist democrat judges are running a "shield the crook" scheme. The corrupt democrat lawyers (now judges) have corrupted our Justice System.

Standing up against these thieves? One Donald John Trump.

Trump 2025 - They're really after you - I'm just standing in the way.

Since when can a judge overturn a jury’s verdict? They have discretion on sentencing within the constraints of the law broken but I’ve never heard a judge overruling a verdict

What’s the point of a jury if a judge can do this? Does this mean a judge can overrule a not guilty verdict?

It is obvious that we have hardcore leftist operatives embedded within the judiciary.

This is just more legal nonsense. All the documentation proved there was fraud in the business and his brother had his name all over. The one they tried, the actual owner did not, even though he was spending money like a king. Had they taken the time to show the money from the business to the owner, not just the fraud itself, they would have convicted him.

Total bullshite, but I see the judge's view from a legal standpoint.

Generally speaking a Judge cannot overturn a jury verdict, they can issue a Judgement Notwithstanding the Verdict if the Judge determines that no reasonable jury could reach a verdict based on the evidence given (this is not the case here). If there are procedural errors the Judge can order a new trial.

ETA: Keep in mind that a Judgment Notwithstanding the Verdict is rarely given. Judges tend to show respect to the jury in this regard.

By ruling that no reasonable jury could have come to the conclusion it did, and that they made a mistake of fact, law, or both. The decision will get reviewed in appellate court.

Somalia looks nicer than MN, so no need to worry about sending them back to such a utopia.

Remember when they said the skyrocketing autism might be related to skyrocketing costs of "treating" autism?????

Trinidad remembers.

Just about the time the "spectrum" of autism was invented.

Every liberal alive supports this. Don't let them fool you to pretend they don't. They love judicial activism at the expense of the American citizen.
Let's start with the obvious. Medicaid fraud is bad. Despite the usual posts asserting that anyone not calling for a lynching of both the judge and the defenant somehow supports medicaid fraud.

So, what actually happened here, since it is clear that the usual suspects did not actually read about the case.

In a nutshell, the judge ruled that there WAS fraud, but that the fraud was committed by the defendant's brother, rather than the defendant.

Is this a serious question?

The Anglo-American jury system has included judgments non obstante veredicto for centuries.
