I am a big trump supporter, but I don't understand on both sides why people from other countries are so vested in our elections. Maybe I don't get it because I am american, but it's weird to me.
Because, despite our domestic politics and the fact that half our country hates freedom, amongst disaffected groups and populaces where freedom is not to be found, America is still a shining beacon representing Democracy, western liberal values, and a place where an individual can make his own way in life without the government unduly interfering in his life.
It is truly sad, disgusting, and ignorant how many in this country despise a system and nation that freed (or kept free) hundreds of millions of people around the world in the 20th Century, and where the vast majority of the world would STILL live in TODAY if they were able to do so.

I guess you missed the big baby Trump balloon?
The one that the goat fricking muslim mayor of London allowed. He is about as popular as Jeremy Corbyn.
I guess that you missed the recent big rally for Trump in London. Thousands were there.
I can just imagine The types of friends that you would have.

I know I recently finished evening classes, and one of my classmates was an immigrant from Liverpool. Really good dude. His perspective was very eye opening.
At the end of class every night, our instructor would usually briefly talk politics. One night, he mentioned how America is so hated throughout the world and how he believes that pretty much all the European countries hate the USA and Trump...
Liverpool guy, usually very quiet, had something to say about that. He came to the USA the second year of Trump's presidency and was absolutely shocked at what the American "news" claims to be true, especially that Trump isn't respected among foreign peers. He says that at very least 90% of people from what he calls "back home" absolutely love our POTUS, particularly how he speaks his mind and isn't afraid to offend people with the truth.
I was kinda surprised to hear it too, but I believe him.

Not weird at all. American policy has an outsized effect on the lives of all people. Many suffered under the grind of socialism, and they look to America for help. My friend in Venezuela wants Trump to win so badly he would probably swim here if he could vote.
I have no evidence of this, but I’d bet my bottom dollar that Trump is a hero to the Uighurs in China.

quote:I travel quite a bit and people always want to talk about Trump. You're not entirely wrong. The international media casts him in the worst light possible. A lot of people abroad think of him as a Bond villain or something, and have to dig to find any positive news about him. That being said, it's somewhat similar to the US in that Trump is more popular when you get outside of large cities.
I have several friends in Europe and a few in Australia. He is mocked in all of those places.

They did treat Reagan bad, but it was nowhere close to what they do to Trump. Not in the same hemisphere.
There were many of the identical accusations. Also there was the same screaming at press conferences. It is in very much the same hemisphere with a more powerful MSM back then. There wasn't the internet people had to get their news from the MSM pretty much. Hell, there wasn't even a moderately friendly media source back then.
They attacked him with scandal after scandal, attack after attack both politically and personally. It was very similar.

The world is better off when America is at its best. And making America Great is precisely what Trump stands for. Being unapologetically great through hard work.

Americans aren't hated as much as people tend to lead you to believe.
Part of it is shtick, from Euro trash. Others think it makes them cool.
Majority would give their left nut to live here.

So do I. I hear positive and negative opinions of him.
I’m glad the Trump balloon makes you feel better. Maybe you missed Brexit, fig.

I can't recall hearing a positive word about Trump from any of my international friends, but most of them see him through the media's lens so I don't really worry about it. It's like reading a UK publication trying to talk about guns in America, and no one involved knows jack shite. But the local populace (ignoring the red pilled) believes and trusts the Guardian and the BBC etc.
Exactly right. There are sheep and lemmings led by media all over the world. CNN and BBC is in all the airports, pumping out propaganda, so what else would you expect? I have business friends in Europe who think the USA is like the wild wild west with gun toting cowboys having Main Street shootouts at high noon in the middle of town every day because of the drivel they are fed about the 2nd amendment.
I took a guy from the UK who works for my company to BassPro, so he could see the gun department. His reaction was somewhere between shock and fascination. Over dinner and a fine Cabernet at his house in the UK, his wife asked me, "do you actually own any guns?" My answer was, "yes, my dad helped me shoot a .22 rifle at 5 years old but I have never shot anyone nor have I ever seen anyone get shot." Her response was a puzzled face, didn't know what to say. Although, she was impressed with 1989 Silver Oak Cabernet that I brought to dinner. In her narrowed mind, fine wine doesn't seem to go with gun ownership.
