About once a week we find needles, drug baggies, blood all over the toilet or walls

Starbucks employees, customers express concern over new policy: 'I can't see how this will work'

Starbucks announced a new policy Saturday that allows anyone to occupy the coffee shop or use the store’s facilities, even if they don’t buy anything, but many are left to wonder if it’ll have a negative impact.
quote:
“This is exactly the kind of behavior that I fear will drive all the regular customers away, at least from urban locations. Opposing racism is nice and all, but it is not the responsibility of Starbucks to resolve all urban problems at one location let alone turn its stores into homeless drop-in centers,” another user wrote in response.

Someone claiming to be an employee who works at a store in the loop in Chicago said they hate the new policy because the store bathrooms have turned into a hub for drug activity. “We haven’t been allowed to change our bathroom codes since April. So almost all the junkies and homeless people know the code now. About once a week we find needles, drug baggies, blood all over the toilet or walls,” the user wrote.

If we all get infected with bloodborne pathogens, then there's no more stigmatization. That's important.

It will be awesome when Starbucks starts to lose some of their best managers from the important urban locales and their image takes a hit even with lefties

Starbucks deserves this and then some...

if this policy stands, they will have to start shutting down a bunch of their urban locations

They've succumbed to their own guilt.

The idea that someone would believe allowing transients and vagrants to stay in Starbucks is "fighting racism" should be extremely offensive to black people.

Junkies usually clean their syringe with water and spray it out anywhere and it cleans out the blood/drugs in the syringe.
I can only imagine the lawsuits about to happen and disease infections happening from cleaning that up.

I kinda feel like somewhere around 2035 or so, people will be sitting around saying “y’all remember Starbucks?”

So essentially, Starbucks has turned itself into San Francisco in less than a month. That’s pretty impressive

Actually they said they couldn't change the bathroom code since april, so you could say actually less than a month.

How could any otherwise intelligent human being ever think acquiescing to shite like this would possibly be a good long term idea?

However, others argue that while there was never an official policy in place until now, many stores operated under similar guidelines before the April incident.
“I was trained on this two years ago when I started. That whole controversy was caused by someone who didn’t follow policy. In fact, they went completely against policy. The only time we’re supposed to kick anyone out of the store is if they are bothering other customers or are damaging the café,” someone wrote.
Sounds like one manager has common sense. Cant say so much for the ones that actually "followed policy".

Before I learned this was a Starbucks corporate initiative, I saw a homeless-looking person at Starbucks near Perkins Rowe this past weekend and though, "Why are they allowing this person to sit there?"
Now I know. I'll likely avoid Starbucks in favor of the CC's Coffee across the street from now on.

This is part of the liberal utopia. The left want this. Their safe haven bastions of San Fransisco, Portland, Seattle, and almost every heavy liberal city embrace this 100%, and do, indeed, believe this is progress. The progs on this board may be embarrassed by this, but it is 100% what they want society to look like. You vote liberal, then you vote for stupidity. Liberalism is a cancer, and the brain is the first organ it destroys.
