For you dog and cat owners. After extended deep freezes during winter the following spring and summer tend to have lower flea and tick infestations. A lot of their babies are dying right now.

Fire ants should be down as well, especially the further north you. Supposedly temps under 10 degrees does them in. Unfortunately we only got to 15.

I believe if the ground freezes for 8 hours it will kill skeeters as well.

As the population centers of NYC, Chicago, Detroit, etc., indicate, cannot get cold enough to make a dent in the population of DemProgFilth.

Or you can just spread Spectracide Triazicide granules in your yard a couple of times a year to get rid of them altogether.

At least fleas and ticks can be controlled and serve a purpose in Nature.

My yard is over an acre and my next door neighbor is an uninhabited forest of about 100 acres.

Somewhat fair point... But I'm pretty sure that Alaska has different breeds of mosquitos adapted to cold weather. So, it could still be true that some mosquito breeds (perhaps like those striped Asian tiger mosquitos) in TX, LA, etc., will be killed off to some degree by the current cold spell. Like the OP says, though, it would likely be a small upside anyway... that most would trade away to have have water and power.

Good, we live backed up to green space and the cat always gets ticks we have to pull of when they are out and about.
