There are federal employees that are fiscally responsible and do want to make America great again. They do exist.

So there are federal employees who are perfectly fine with going without pay for the cause? I don’t doubt there are some of those who exist, but surely those are outnumbered by ones who would be quite seriously affected in a negative way. I could be wrong I guess.

Sounds good but isn't. I live psy check to pay check and it would greatly hurt me and my family.

But you'll get that sweet huge paycheck with all your backpay in it when they open back up.

We need major shake ups in our govt bc they are mostly (95%) crooks. Only in it for the money.

Get a better job if you are paycheck to paycheck. Not our problem.

I don't think 161 million workers should be held hostage for 2 million workers....many who won't be working in the public sector for long anyways.

So it’s acceptable to make people work without paying them? I’d like to hear your rationale for that. I wouldn’t be very motivated to come to work if I wasn’t paid.

I’ll lose my mail carrier who

1) refuses to deliver to my door because the driveway that UPS and Fed X and Amazon drive down every week is “impassible”

2) refuses to deliver to my door because “you have a big dog” that UPS and Fed X and Amazon pet when they drop packages at my door

3) when she gets behind in her deliveries, pulls packages from her truck and throws them in the ditch near my mailbox

I can’t live without her

This thread turned into a list of the repetitive wailing that shows why the current system of debt limits and 1500 page last minute spending extensions will never work to get real reform.

Government is horribly wasteful...but we can't live without it!

It’s funny to me when they tout on the news that closure is some sort of disaster and needs to be avoided at all costs. Reminds me of the local weather man hoping we don’t get snow. frick you buddy. I want a gov’t shut down and I want snow!

They get paid. It may be delayed a bit but they get paid.

It’s a risk of being a government employee.

They all know this. Every single useless IRS and SS employee knows this.

MSNBC may be taking applications.

So the hold time will roughly be the same as it is now.
