There’s no way it’s even close to the “largest bust in history” if it was only 11.5 kilos

Numbers are messed up somewhere

I think this has been discussed but why do educated people pronounce fentanyl as fent-a-NALL?

It’s FENT-a-nuhl or FENT-a-nil.

It’s not important but it bugs the shite out of me.

Is it just me or does that...not seem like a lot

From chatGPT
Fentanyl is extremely potent — just 2 milligrams (0.002 grams) can be a lethal dose for most people.

To estimate how many people 11 kilograms could kill:

Convert kilograms to milligrams:
11 kg = 11,000,000 mg

Divide by the estimated lethal dose (2 mg):
11,000,000 mg ÷ 2 mg = 5,500,000 people

Answer: Up to 5.5 million people could potentially be killed by 11 kilograms of fentanyl, depending on purity and individual factors such as body size, tolerance, and method of exposure.

Would you like a breakdown comparing this to historical seizures or overdose statistics?

The article doesn’t even mention a HUGE bust this week in the Midwest. $1.2 million worth of drugs seized

It sounds like a lot because it's a lot of money to someone personally.

The reality is that America consumes about 150 billion in illegal drugs annually. This is a drop in the proverbial bucket.

And? That’s like saying the country club bill is a drop in my monthly bills. So if I struggle I shouldn’t cut it out. So dumb.

Anyone arguing about the weight is being silly.

That’s the point of fentanyl. A little goes a long way. It makes it easier to smuggle because you don’t need to move as much as you would need to move weed.

quote:

The largest fentanyl bust in U.S. history occurred on July 1, 2024, at the Port of Lukeville, Arizona, where U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers seized approximately 4 million blue fentanyl pills, weighing over 1,000 pounds.

So this would make it the largest bust in US history.

1,000 pounds is 454 kilos. And that’s prob not all fentanyl weight.

I was promised Epstein arrests and Russiagate justice, but all I got was drug busts and foreign students deported for saying mean things about Israel.

Early data lacks specifics on breaking out opioid deaths. But since 2018 250k+ have died of fentanyl.

But you care more about terrorists and gang members.

We should teach those cartel members a lesson. Make them eat all that fentanyl.. then maybe they won’t do it again.
