Wat for what? There is no endgame. Hes making shite up as he goes, its you people who fill in the narrative.
In case you took a 40 year nap, we had 4 years of this already. Shifting goalposts, shifting ideals, muddled visions.
There is no endgame for Trump, the tariffs and "negotiations" give him attention and power, and thats all he cares about.

Then why did Biden, blessed with Democrat control of both Houses, keep Trump’s China tariffs?

Yes high paying manufacturing jobs is the goal

Because he is an economic ignoramus.

What we did was stop shipments of goods, followed by a “best deal” to put the tariffs back almost exactly where they were before Trump took office.
What we really did was move the pharmaceutical drug manufacturing back to the United States as it posed a national security threat but then again you won't want to acknowledge this important facet of the trade deal either.

China came running to the table because this trade battle hurt them way more that it hurt us.
That is not what China said. Neither is it what this administration said.
What i kept hearing the past few weeks from this administration was this:
“We are talking with China. They want to make a deal, they want to make a deal, and we want to make a deal.”
Here is what China would say in response:
“We have not held any discussions with anyone, we will not come to the table until the US drops these ridiculous levies.”
When Trump was asked if their were discussions going on this is what he said:
“I don’t want to talk about it.”
Winning!

Yes, that deal. What is it accomplishing in terms of stopping the flow of fentanyl? Stealing our IP? Stopping their aggressive cyber warfare against us? Helping ensure we win the AI race? etc.
Before I even engage with you acknowledge that close to $200B in annual tax revenue is a major positive outcome or it’s clear you aren’t serious about having an objective discussion on this.

JFC... Your TDS is off the charts.

He showed the world how dependent China was on us
Current tariffs -
China - 10% on US goods
US - 30% on Chinese imports
1) More Businesses willing to manufacture and ship from the US into China
2) Cost gap narrowing between US made goods and Chinese shipped goods to US consumers
3) Shipping costs on goods declining due to US origins as manufacturing increases
I mean, if you didnt hate America, it should be pretty easy to recognize

That is exactly what the real data and information sneaking out of China said - why do you think people there were protesting for back wages? All was not well. At all.

Then you weren’t paying attention (perhaps willfully). There were many members of this administration saying things hit Chyna harder than us.

Definitely they weren’t as smart as you, because if they realized the tariffs had been solely for Trump’s aggrandizement they would have surely repealed them. Given your views, you should have explained it to them.

A) it’s just taking their 2024 US exports x 30% tariff rate, kept it extremely vanilla.
B) we don’t know what we collected from them in 2024 in actual tariffs because it wasn’t announced by the US govt that I could find.
But apparently per the actual Chinese trade negotiators they just stopped following the trade deals around 2022 because they decided Biden wouldn’t do anything about it so there’s that as a factor as well.
What we do know is that as we only collected $80B globally in all of 2024 and that this deal, assuming 2024 trade volume would would result in 2-2.5x that number without any other tariffs coming into play so it’s obviously a massive increase.

AAhhhh, they still have 50% tariffs, the 20 we had on them, plus 10 everyone has, plus the added 20.
Also, he's cooking them like LOBSTER, they jumped to agree to 50% tariffs, but as soon as we get Drugs being made back in the USA and other products made here that are a required entity, Trump will twist the knife a little more UNLESS they come into free trade on their own and quit stealing intellectual properties.

Allowed them to ship and unload all the stuff they had in the loop when he announced the tariffs.
It takes 15-20 (or more) for cargo ships to make the trip so there were a bunch at sea or in bays/docks/right outside us waters.
Tariffs are imposed FOB embarkation. Meaning tariffs applied to anything loaded after he announced the 145% tariffs.
Its why companies in the US and factories in china killed themselves to get them loaded on vessels before tariffs. So all the warehouses in the US are full and then....the tariffs hit. Factories had already produced months of supply and no orders so everyone was sent home.
Now they will come back to work at a much slower pace. Warehouses are still full and a 30% tariff will reduce demand.

There were different levels of tariffs for different goods depending on whether we were protecting specific industries, like auto manufacturing, or whether we had a specific need, like medical needles, etc. but the general average tariff level pre-Trump was around 27%.
What were the tariffs on USA goods into China?
