A few insiders will eventually talk and make some money off the story. I'd love to know what kind of outcomes we planned for.

Completely incorrect. This war has proven that Iran absolutely had to be dealt with.

Trump said on camera that he didn't know that the Iranians were going to close the strait

I hope that's just his usual rambling and making shite up. Because if he truly didn't think that was a possibility he needs to take a closer look at his advisors. Or here is a crazy thought - actually listen to them.

How many last minute “discussions “ is this???

Trump has to see they are drawing this out while he loses political capital. Dems have probably promised Iran Peach Mints if they can delay enough to win midterms.

These discussions need to decided in hours. Not weeks, or forget midterms.

Because they retaliate when attacked?

Yeah, I'm not sure what the admin expected, Iran to just roll over?

Thats all I can come up with.

Obviously didn't plan for Iran shutting down the straight and fricking global oil prices

Just 2 weeks and you will see those prices plummet, 2 more weeks

100%. They would continue to spread terror. Then once possessing a nuke, the course of humanity altered permanently.

The next confrontation with Iran would be nuclear, and likely unavoidable.

Maybe he really believed the people would revolt and overtake their country. Kind of like a reverse Bay of Pigs.

Politically Trump is in an almost no win situation.

This war is unpopular with the public. If it escalates into a ground invasion and full on war then it will be severely unpopular and the midterms are a blood bath.

If we keep having meetings while the strait is closed for a prolonged period of time the economic fall out of that will be tremendous.

The best outcome is for him to sign some sort of longer term cease fire agreement and make some sort of deal with the Iranians. They're stubborn frickers so that's not going to be easy.

Not sure, but this reads as satire.

The crazy thing is there is no evidence to suggest that they were making a nuke. But we just gave them the perfect reason to make one.

This is essentially a master class in stupidity

My personal opinion is that we dont have the intel on where IRGC members are that we would want to target or else it would have been done. We're at the point where whatever we do is going to negatively affect the citizens of Iran, and we don't want that.

Then he or his advisors really misunderstood the control that the national guard has on the country.

It really was an ill thought out action. Say what you want, but the tactical strikes last June were executed flawlessly. This, not even close.

Iran still has enough firepower to retaliate and cause an even bigger....much bigger ...catastrophe in the region and economically for the world.

We don't know that. We, as in you and I and anyone on this board. The media doesn't know it either.

I don't discount the possibility for sure. But we don't know that it's true.

At most we create a buffer zone to extract the nuke material then get out. Or partner with Israel and they do it while we provide cover. We’re never going in Iraq style.

I’m not sure about that. Other supply routes will be built. Supply chains will reroute, given enough time.

Trumps best bet is to maintain the blockade and state of war and destroy anything that moves militarily or leadership-wise.

I think the biggest failure has been zero propaganda/information to Iranian citizens by the US. We should 100% control messaging by now.
