What's wrong with Paxton with regard to policy? The GOP establishment Bush family faction of Texas Republicans don't like him. So what. How the frick does that affect me or any voters? What he supports policywise is what I'm worried about as a voter. My point was that it was more than just jobs, although that's surely a big part of it. Many were moving for the culture, and Talarico, from my view, is not only not a cultural Texan, but he's more in line with the politicians from the places so many are running to Texas from. That stuff eats at a citizenry. People can poo poo the culture wars or whatever you wish to call it all you want, but that's having a profound effect on our nation as a whole. The left was just in charge not long ago, I think they did real damage.

According to my buddy who is a state level campaign manager for various GOP candidates, he is VERY worried about this race and he was very confident in the previous senate races that looked worrisome.

I didn’t realize income was the only tax available.
Maybe Talarico would not change the fundamentals (he is not in the executive branch for one) but Democrats nationally have embraced policies that have chased business out of places like California and New York. Now why is that?

Higher taxes, more environmental regulations, and stricter zoning regulations are three main areas.
My interpretation is that a Democrat in Texas is not equal to a democrat in New York or California. Liberal strongholds don’t have enough interaction with non-far left people.

He says the exact same things as the liberal stronghold politicians though. If there's a incident where race, or gender can be grifted, he's on it. He's a progressive liberal in every sense running for governor in Texas. I really hope that's not what the people there want.

I think we can have a separate conversation about culture wars, and winning policies for the country.
Most Americans don’t want DEI policies, don’t want trans athletes competing in women’s sports, and don’t want draconian anti-weed policies.
Insurance company profits are driving up healthcare costs and reducing healthcare coverage. Trade wars are driving up grocery costs.
Common sense middle ground exists.

Negatives -
He is not a masculine guy, and comes across as “too nice”.
He has a laundry list of policy ideas, and some of his policy ideas are not realistic.
Positives -
He has a track record of working with the GOP members of the state legislature to get bi-partisan legislation passed.
He is not a corrupt POS.
