If he was a busy 45 y/o attorney, health and wellness were likely not a huge priority. Pics tell a lot about body composition which gives a window into metabolic processes (diagnosed or undiagnosed). He does not look perfectly healthy based on the pictures provided. How much stress was he under day to day. How much sleep was he getting? If he is like other 45 y/o professional I know, all of these metrics matter and are underestimated/neglected
Got it.
So now the virus is ONLY lethal to you if you are:
1) Young
2) old
3) sickly
4) fat
5) have high blood pressure
6) actually work for a living
7) do cocaine
Am I leaving anything out? Cause it seems like this would cover a whole hell of a lot of people. frick it people, shut this whole mother fricker down, what we have here is a PANDEMIC!!!

It thrives and replicates at 98 degrees. How much warmer do you think it will take?

How do you know what I "got out of it"? You started a new thread on a topic that already has multiple threads, one of them extensive and in it you made an unsubstantiated claim and so I asked you where you came up with it.
Why would I not ask for you to substantiate such a claim? This isn't a time for spreading bullshite.

Bull
The frail are at risk (there is no one monolithic group)
Traditionally we think of the elderly or people with a myriad of underlying medical problems
That said there will be a group of people who society views as healthy who by and large are objectively unhealthy. They fit into the bell curve of what we accept as normal because our overall health as a nation is so skewed. These people are also frail, but they dangerously do not realize it
Based off of that guys pictures (obesity) alone we can speculate that he may have had recognized or unrecognized:
Sleep apnea (The pictures reveal neck that is pretty classic) - Which leads to disrupted sleep creating a cascade of predictable problems ranging from poor blood sugar regulation, accentuated weight gain, impaired immune function
Insulin Resistance- Be willing to bet this gentleman has some degree of insulin resistance versus early diabetes. This is part and parcel for most people with body composition changes
I could go on, but if we couple this with the fact that he was likely living a stressful life of a 45-year-old “successful” professional, it is the perfect storm in the setting of recent exposure to an international event (Mardi Gras)
To answer your original question, if you are an average Louisiana you should indeed stay your arse at home...

covid hate warm, but thrives in 98.6 bodies?
I heard it's not the temp that tamps down CV...it's the humidity. Minimizes the aerobic spread as the Virus is coughed out and attaches to the thick air. Goes down. Not sure, but sounds plausible, in respect to you temp point.

I don't believe this because all you millennials on the board say only those over 70 get sick enough to even know.

He’s in ICU taking paralytic medications so his lungs can rest
I’m pretty sure he is taking paralytic meds to keep his body from fighting the ventilator. When you are on the ventilator they force the alveoli open which increases your blood CO2 and you react by wanting to exhale. Paralysis prevents that. You need to be in this state until the inflammation between the alveoli and the capillaries subsides. His lungs are not necessarily relaxing. At least that is my understanding.

Wonder if and how annual pollen apocalypse might also be a factor in some way?

The biggest unknown has always been how corona and the obesity factor would work out.

An endotracheal tube is unpleasant enough. Air being forced through it into the lungs by a ventilator is worse still. So, when possible, patients undergoing mechanical ventilation are sedated to unconsciousness. Then they are given muscle relaxants to prevent reflex coughing, bucking which would decrease ventilatory inefficiency and increase pulmonary complications.

Fatasses die from the flu every year, too. I mean sure, it’s sad and sucks but its disingenuous to use this story as a scare tactic.
People die from the flu daily that would’ve lived by getting a readily available flu shot, that’s a lot more sad to me. But you don’t see any big push to get everyone vaccinated from the flu (and a portion of them population actively avoids getting a flu shot)

My mother somehow ripped it out when she was in ICU after her heart attack. They think she got her leg/foot up there to do it as her arms were restrained.

Edward Aschoff was 34 and got taken out by pneumonia and something called HLH. I hope the guy recovers but sometimes the dominoes line up the wrong way.

I swear I haven’t been able to clear my lungs in two months.
Mine has been longer than that but I've been told it could be because of my blood pressure medication and/or the pneumonia shot I got. It occurs more with me while lying down. Once I'm up it seems to be okay.
