It would be immeasurably impactful for my family to just go ONE year without paying federal income taxes. Wish somehow that could become a thing to have once or twice in a lifetime to get a one year reprieve.
You realize that the people who arent paying federal income taxes generally arent making $200,000 per year? The median household income of the bottom 40% is $30,000 per year.
Its easy to avoid taxes - just be poor, or very rich.

Flat tax! If you need proof our government is retarded the fact we don’t have a flat tax is all you need.
Flat tax 100%. If the government needs more more they would need to raise the flat tax on everyone. Watch how fast government spending would curtailed then.

Many real estate professionals pay no income taxes. Should they be barred from voting as well?
Yes. If you don't pay a net of at least $3000
I'd rather have an IQ test as a requirement rather than income based.

When the country was founded only landowners got a vote. I’d be all for that again. Why should anyone have a say and how tax dollars are spent if they are not providing any of those tax dollars?

For over 30 years I paid more in taxes than double the average income of married couples up till about 5 years ago. I took early SSI as I can never collect what I paid into unless I get to my 90’s, family history says I am reaching my limit and I’m not even 70 yet. The difference in my SSI was about 700 per month and I did the math and knew I could never get close to what I was forced into paying. That is just flat money with no interest collected. I hope this country gets tough and soon as our kids and grandkids have a hard road already but future generations could have a chance

Great point. Thanks for the explanation.
And to the OP point, the current US Senate has no incentive to change their policies. Use the few taxpayers left to buy votes from the non tax payers.
I think that money is the fundamental issue in DC. Money is power in DC and too much of it concentrated in the federal government.
You don’t give a crack addict more crack to get them to recovery.
Repealing 16 and 17 Amendments is the first step to fixing that problem, imo.
The EC congressional model and abolishing primaries are the first steps to getting away from fringe candidates and making every vote in the POTUS race mean a little more. A democrat in Mississippi and republican in California both have an incentive to vote if their vote could sway their congressional district and candidates will have to appeal to a broader voter base vs a handful of winner take all states.

Flat tax 100
That number sounds a bit high.

We need to get that up to 100%.

I've heard Dave Ramsey say 48%

Abolish income tax and put it all on sales and property tax. That will still hit the higher income people but nobody will skate by completely.
Property tax should be illegal. If the government can auction off your land, then you never actually owned the land in the first place.

This is not sustainable. We are headed for a severe crash

Kamala is going to 'help the taxpayer' by increasing the earned income tax credit. That's not a tax cut. That's an increase in a welfare check.

40.1% SHOULD NOT VOTE!!!!!!!!!!!

If you don’t pay taxes, you shouldn’t get a vote.
If you consume anything, you pay taxes. They may not be “income” taxes as there are plenty of other forms of taxation such as sales tax, property tax, gasoline tax, tax on your phone bill and so forth.
The Sons of Liberty were not against taxation,
they were against the lack of representation. Taxes as the price that we pay for living in a civilized society. While it’s rooted in Biblical principles, I would say that the general idea of “We the People” also presupposes that those who have benefitted more from their pursuit of happiness contribute in the same manner so that others may as well. Some will scream “muh socialism” - but graduated
tax rates is NOT making everyone equal financially (ie socialism).

That’s why a flat tax rate would be the fairest avenue.

quote:I had a bet once with a receptionist. She said she didn’t mind higher taxes since she “got money back” every year. I bet her taxes were her largest monthly expense, and she said “no way, rent is definately higher”. I said bring me a pay stub, I bet you $20.
It would be immeasurably impactful for my family to just go ONE year without paying federal income taxes.
She did and was not happy. First, she owned me $20. Then she discovered she was “rich”. It was indeed her largest mothly expense. “How can I be paying the government more than my rent and food combined”. I think I created a republican thst day.
And it is for most people. But the government forces us employers to do the collecting. If people had to write the checks for it—we’d have a revolt within six months.
All this holds true—while the “middle class” actually contributes very little to government funding. It is insane how much our government is taking from us. While spending is into oblivion via debt.

Not the same concept.
Income taxes are significantly higher.
Income taxes are significantly higher.
