According to a report by South Korea's primary news outlet, Yonhap, the Pentagon has directed a total of three US aircraft carriers toward the Korean Peninsula, citing a South Korean government source. Yonhap reports that in addition to the CVN-70 Carl Vinson, which is expected to arrive off the South Korean coast on April 25, the CVN-76 Ronald Reagan - currently in home port in Yokosuka, Japan - and the CVN-68 Nimitz carrier group - currently undergoing final pre-deployment assessment, Composite Training Unit Exercise off Oregon - will enter the Sea of Japan next week. According to the senior government official. the US and South Korea are discussing joint drills, which will include the three aircraft carriers and other ships.

Excellent, while we're at it, let's withdraw land based soldiers from South Korea, that would scare the frick out of NK.

Also, I wonder if we have access to fat boy's cell phone number , we could send him a message

"shall we play a game Kim?" in a creepy computer voice.

Someone made the point in another thread that 1 CSG doesn't mean much other than a show of force.

But 3 CSG's, out of 11 that we have... very interesting.

shite's about to get real. Some in here were worried we wouldn't be able to run constant sorties. This might fix that problem, between 3 carrier groups and 2 air bases in SK.

If the radar/AA net along the coast and interior AA are taken out, they may have a chance to keep the troops out of Seoul for the main force to deploy in enough time.

When the time comes they better be ready to take out the artillery sighted in for Seoul ASAP.

It won't come to that, China can't afford 20M Korean refugees streaming across their border, and eventually they will just take Kim out, install a new more manageable puppet and we will back off.

I don't see how people can be giddy over the thought of war.

I don't see a "war" happening. If China weren't on board with what we are doing, then we probably wouldn't be doing it. And China does not want a war on the Korean peninsula.

More probably a targeted strike to take out Kimmy Tubby and his upper military echelon occurring, supported by some Chinese plants, who will take over. Or perhaps even a coup with China's backing, and us having forces in place in case someone in the outgoing regime gets an itchy trigger finger.
