Hey everyone. I've been a long time lurker on tigerdroppings and the fdb is easily my favorite board. I especially love the picture threads showing step by step processes of the cooking.
I know there's a whole thread on the board right now that's going strong showing off everyone's (delicious) food, but I wanted to take a second and introduce myself and some of my food.
I hope to be able to share in the fun conversations on this board and learn some new things!
I saw a picture of a king cake bread pudding in the long picture thread and I HAD to try and make my own so here's what I did.
First I started out with two king cakes. I got them from Albertson's. They weren't great..but I was looking for some cheap ones to manipulate
I cut up the cakes into about 1 inch chunks and put them on a sheet tray and put them into the oven. They were too moist and wouldn't have soaked up the liquid, so this step was important.
Next I mixed 6 eggs with a cup of cream and about 2 1/2 cups of whole milk and 1/2 cup of sugar. I also added bit of cinnamon and some almond extract.
This is just the bread soaking in the liquid.
I also made my own icing to top it with. Just some powdered sugar, condensed milk, water, and a quick squeeze of lemon juice.
And some purple, yellow, and green sugar crystals. Made from food coloring and plain white crystals.
Right out of the oven. Cooked it for about an hour at 325.
And here it is all put together!
Hope yall enjoy lookin' as much as I enjoyed cookin'...and more importantly eatin'. It turned out to be absolutely delicious. I hope some of yall try it too

Thanks everyone. I'd be happy to share..but everyone devoured it last night. Which is a good sign, but bad for my taste buds. Also forgot to mention that I added white chocolate chips. You can kinda see them in the second to last picture.
Made a crawfish etouffee pizza yesterday too. Gotta get going to work, but I'll be sure to post pics of that as soon as I have a chance. Spoiler alert...it was good too.

It sounds delicious(but, I dont like the white chocolate chip part).
Thanks for the pictures. I love crawfish on pizza. I like it spicy with jalapeños.

Bookmarked. Looks amazing. Can you be a little more specific on your icing measurements?
...and how long did you keep the king cake pieces in the oven?

That has a sinful factor that cannot be measured.
Glad to have someone like you on board here.
