As someone who recently had the first seizure of their life, it could have been that.

I often hunt in the Piney woods where the under brush is thick and usually there is no "cover" trees or limbs. So the only real option is to climb up above 30 feet to keep the deer from seeing me.

So I often climb 35 to 40 feet. I killed a deer a couple of weeks ago while almost 40 feet up.

I am not sure how much longer I can keep doing this, but for now, I do it. Oh, I am 75 years old.

“Oh,I am 75 years old”.
Ironman !!! Good for you pops.I only hunted out of climbers until I was 65 and my friends and family thought I was nuts.

I got 4 box stands and they ruined me.Box stands much more comfortable and I can move around pretty much all I want.
Only time I use my climber anymore is trim limbs.

do you maintain 2 points of attachment when climbing with these things?

Sticks and a lineman belt on the way up. Platform and linemen belt. Then put my tether on and secure before removing the lineman belt.

I use 11mm ropes for my tether and lineman belt.

51 years old with two sons, 13 years old and 10 months. It's ladder and box for me. Probably going to build a couple more box stands as I will never hunt by myself again.

Though I do have a tripod stand that I might give a go on a huge cut-over that has had all kinds of deer tracks immediately after the last two rains!

Only ladder, box stands and ground blinds for me.

I’m afraid of heights so I’m miserable when I’m up in the air unless it’s a big two man ladder.

There are times I am as well. For whatever reason, I am not in my climber.

I have a Summit viper. I have only felt shaky when I climb the wrong kind of tree. Oaks with really hard bark and shagbark hickories are no good. Had a scary time in a shagbark when my top slid down onto the bottom, but the bottom held and I fixed it. Also shot a deer 20 minutes after that happened. Otherwise I feel safe because I don't climb those anymore, and I tie off when I am higher that 8 feet in the way up and down.

One of the plusses of the API. The teeth are so sharp these trees are no issue.

I'm using my Viper for the first time Saturday afternoon. Can't wait to get up and look over a huge ridge. Hopefully get some horns.

Extremely sorry to hear about his family’s loss. Would love to give this guy a shout-out though for being able to accomplish this climb at 60! Hell, attempting it at 60 is a feat.

The only time I am 40 feet up, it has wings and engines.

I climbed my whole life, from Bakers, Amackers, API, Summits, I bet I went over 25 feet like 5 times.
