ZACHARY - Authorities are investigating the death of a man who apparently fell out of a deer stand while hunting.
According to the Chaneyville Fire Department, the unidentified man was found dead at the bottom of the stand around 7 p.m. Monday off Port-Hudson Pride Road.
Officials had yet to release the man's actual cause of death as of Tuesday morning.
This is a developing story.

did the tree stand break, or did he just slip and fall out of it?

Sad to see it. Wonder if he slipped or if it were a stand failure. I stay 100% tied off now.
A couple of weeks ago there was a dude on the Sherburne page calling folks snowflakes because they were telling him to put a harness on his kid.

Heard he was 60 and climbed 35 feet. Screw that shite tied off or not. I’m 56 and quit climbing a few years ago. Not worth it. All box stands for me. God bless this man and his family

Heard the same. I have a platform stand that is 10 ft. That's high enough for me.

From what I’ve heard he had 20ft of climbing sticks then climbed 10ft further on limbs. Limb broke and he wasn’t wearing a harness.

That's terrible. My uncle died in the exact same way about 15 yrs ago. Reaching out to trim some limbs, not tied off, and fell head first

Yeah.....this ain't the place for that. This is the OB. I don't even think the OT would garner upvotes for that comment

Thats two in less than a month. Might need a moratorium on deer stands.

It was also raining and VERY windy. Not sure what would make someone want to hunt in those conditions.

Hate to hear that. Man out doing something he loves, enjoying the outdoors and this shite happens. Guys, please be careful with guns, climbers, ladder stands, 4 wheelers, etc. etc.

I’ve went 30 before and that’s damn high. Was He trying to put a lock-on on the tree? Musta been in a magnolia tree with that many limbs.

60 year old, way high in a tree on a rainy Monday evening, he had to have been after a big one , just him being in that situation tells me he was more of a 60 year old than most 25 year olds, no telling what happened but Godspeed and may he RIP

RIP, for all we know he the biggest buck of his life gave him a heart attack, that caused him to fall.

I’ve never felt unsafe in my saddle. I’m connected to the tree at all times and there’s really nothing to fail in the setup. Inspect your harness and ropes and use the process and you never should find yourself in a situation where you aren’t strapped to the tree.
