Will I-Pilot anchor feature work on a heavy boat with T-top?

the T-top is like a freaking sale. Anybody know if the lock in anchor position with any of the trolling motors work with them?
If I get one I will get biggest available which is a 112lb thrust with a 72 inch shaft. I have a 23 foot boat that weighs around 4500 pounds fully loaded.
If they do work what is your opinion on best model to buy. I've looked at Minn Kota Ulterra and Terrova. But while reading I saw a lot of info on Rhodans which I don't really know much about. Also the Xi5 by motor guide I believe.

My option is that it will work and that they are absolutely awesome

My dad just bought a 24' Nautic Star with a T top last month that has a 112lb Terrova on it and the anchor position holds just fine, the first time out was in 10-15mph winds. Not really sure if that's much help but I was surprised how well it worked.

i have the Xi5 but no Ttop. works great in some rough stuff.
I see 24' boats with them that have t tops. Hell they are putting them on the freeman cats now a days so im sure you will be fine
Get the biggest you can because the t top isnt helping you

I use mine to lock in the platform shade offshore, a big swell can throw it for a loop though.

I've read quite a bit on the Rhodan motors. Seems like they might have had a couple of kinks at first, but it looks like people are loving them now.
Even when people had problems it looked like Rhodan went above and beyond to make it right.
I'd look hard at them. Call them, see what they say. From what I have read, you might only need a 24V. They make some pretty bold claims and 23 isn't that big.

Spot lock is on the same level as thermacell and air conditioning in terms of products which should be worshiped. Of course it will work and it is absolutely necessary.

ive done that before. We were able to fish out the back of the boat on the up current side of the platform that was in the shade.

It can get sketchy with any type of moderate current/seas. The Spot Lock does get confused and it does let loose. You can end up in a rig before you know it.
Just a word of caution.

True. That day it was calm and we werent right up on it so we had time. It's obviously a judgment call situation

The Rhodan motors will hold a 37 Freeman (there's video on YouTube).

I have an i pilot on my 25 Sea hunt bay boat and it works very well unless there is 2' Plus seas or a decent wind. Overcompensates a lot in those situations.

I think it is more of a question of battery life than pure holding power.

If it doesn't work, sail it on Louisiana Sportsman. Put it on the "For Sell" classifieds.

I have a fairly heavy 24' bay boat with T top and it works great. I have no complaints.
Occasionally when the current gets too strong fishing offshore I still use the outboard but in most cases it's the absolute tits. Nothing like taking a break from fishing and sitting in the shade of the t top and keeping younwhere u want working the remote in the shade.

Do a lot of research on Minn Kota Ulterra before pulling the trigger. They have a lot of issues. My neighbor just tried it to sell me an Ulterra 60" 112 lb. but after researching I could not swap out from my manual trolling motor and have a faulty unit. I agree that it would be the tits to pull up on my spots and just lock on it, but they have a high rate of failure. Maybe I'll save up for the Rhodan

Works great on my 24 with ttop. Only issue is battery life on real windy days, runs constant on 7-8 speed.

Anyone else with the Riptide Ulterra having any problems with theirs? My dad's has beein in the shop twice in the last year and needs to go back again.
Not sure of the first issue, but the second time, the spot lock quit working properly and they had to change out one of the control boards. Now, it's not getting any power whatsover, and it's not the plug.
When it's working it's great, but it has been problematic to say the least.
Been bringing it to Front 2 Back in BR, so maybe that's my problem.
eta: I've also read various guides from LA to FL complaining about issues and some say they won't buy another one.

Idk anything about that particular model trolling motor, but I always recommend front 2 back to everyone. They're pretty damned good.
