Mainly referring to rifles made by the big factories like Winchester, Remington, Savage, Ruger, Tikka, etc, etc.

How about Tikkas?

Every T3 I have picked up cycled real smooth.

Are you referring to common names like browning, Ruger, Savage, etc?

I have a Bighorn that is by far the best of any I own. I will have more.

Out of normal off the shelf stuff, tikka will probably hold this title forever. My new model 70 is very slick but I've been told that's not true for all of them.

No holds barred best out there? Some spit polished long range custom job im sure.

Im not stuck on any particular bran as I own Remington, Ruger, and just got a Savage 300. Surprisingly the Savage is by far the smoothest bolt I have owned.

My 15yr old T3 still cycles smoother than anything I've ever shot. The bolt still is so smooth, it will ease itself open without touching it.

Upvote for Howa.

My boy has a Weatherby Vanguard (Howa made) that is smooth and extremely accurate.

I’m over here with a Thompson Compass and the bolt is like the old wiener down the hallway joke (but it’s accurate and was damn near free).

The old Lee Enfield has an ultra slick action.

Tikka still holds the crown as far as rifles I've ever held. Its impossible to bind that thing up and it even makes a nice "swooooop" sound when you cycle it.

I have always been told that the best factory made, off the shelf bolt action rifles for hunting are Sakos. But i know that they are at the high end of most peoples budgets.
