I know. Should've done already. Thx.

So, MREs for a bit, then what? Have you seen The Road?

Just accept human flesh and you'll never go hungry.

I'd rather be dead than have to live off MREs for more than a very short time. Look for other options, our forefathers figured it out.

If Covid taught me anything, it's your SHTF fan food supply should consist of the things you like to eat and things you eat everyday. Just find the shelf stable versions of them.

Freeze dried foods are WAY more palatable than MRE's. Screw that nonsense, and how do they get a "butterfinger cookie" to last that long?

Got plenty of rice, beans, & ramen. Lookout neighborhood squirrels & wabbits. Got the 10/22 ready to go. Never actually had an MRE. Nice to now know they suck. Won't waste my $.

Sams has a sealed bucket with a 2wk supply for 50-60$ . Every time I see them I almost get one then I argue with myself on what is that 2wks going to add to my already stocked freezers and pantry.

Freezers can thaw. One can live off Ramen forever.

There are better options unless you are just stuck on getting MRE's. You can get the food buckets from several different places.

This! Get what you normally eat! There are MREs and similar options My Patriot Supply but at the end of the day, get what y’all like and what you can securely store.
Personally, We have 6 months of food available, mainly to avoid going out in times of civil unrest, runs on grocery stores or pandemics, etc.
White rice has about a 20 year shelf life and dried beans literally last forever. Ramen is good as well as other types of pasta, some canned goods, powdered milk, pancake mix and such.
If you can get fresh eggs, not store bought, coat them with mineral oil, store in a cool, dry place and they will last 6-9 months.
Make sure you have salt, pepper, Tabasco, Tony’s, spices and seasonings. Sugar, flour, honey, etc. are good to have and honey lasts forever.
If you are able to can fresh vegetables that is great as well. You can also can deer meat if that is an option.
Bottled water and/or a water filtration system.
Basic medical and dental supplies.
This is just a basic idea for getting started and there is much more you can do.
Never too late to start. Good luck!

If society does completely break down and folks get hungry (which I don't think is going to happen in my lifetime), I wonder how long before deer are hunted to extinction? Less than one year I think.

Them damn things are ninjas around here I am counting on feral hogs to save the day. To the op rice and beans are cheap to stockpile. I have many pounds vacuum sealed in portions. I have a place with cisterns and a creek I can take care of my own for a good while and lord have mercy on anyone looking to take what’s mine

I dont know about forever, but for 21 months of grad school my diet consisted of about 95% Ramen noodles. Thirty years later, if I never see another Ramen noodle, I'll be fine.

Almost no time at all. Wild game would be one of the first things to go if the shite really hit the fan

Texas alone has 2 million wild pigs.

I've been eyeballing some SREs (squirrels ready to eat) in my backyard. Also been watching some DREs, TREs, RREs, BREsand other critters creeping around my yard and creek that I spot on my hunting cams and security cameras.
