Come on down to St Mary parish. South of the tracks in Patterson/Berwick area or the Glencoe area around Franklin is full of them.

Had a big one on our place in East Carroll a month or so ago...my worse walked out on the back porch that morning and hollered for me and my sons to come outside and see “this animal”. Big fella walked out of our woods and walked across a few fields to another patch of woods. Farm hands normally try to run em off. Have pics of a big one on a feeder from couple yrs ago...burned through a bunch of corn quickly.

Like this one. Rode to the camp to check cameras last night and found this.

I wasn’t sure if it was hogs or bears, as there are plenty of both on us right bow. After checking surveillance I was able to identify the culprit.

A quick but violent body slam of my Moultry

You might as well take all your feeders down at this point. They will destroy everyone. We quit putting corn in them after they ran out and the bears still destroyed them thinking there was corn inside.

That was last year. I figured they'd go away if we quit putting out corn, but no such luck. Seems like we have more than ever. I watched 3 last week for an hour while deer hunting.

Pisses me off that the government spent millions of dollars to expand the population of bears in Louisiana.Like we need another nuisance animal, the hogs are a huge problem so now we have bears to contend with.
A guy I know has camp at Tensas, bear broke window and demolished inside of his camp.
Bears are worse than hogs, thank goodness they don’t reproduce like hogs.

The Bayou Teche NWR has certain areas off limits for hunting because of the number of black bears. So yea St. Mary is a great place to start.

My buddy just got it on his camera. I have to say I was a bit skeptical about the other sightings but now I’m convinced. There is definitely a black bear residing in Franklinton. It’s only like 12 miles as a crow flies from my house in Abita.

I’ve seen a few crossing the golf course Atchafalaya at Idlewild. They are thick between HWY 90 and the Intercoastal, from Franklin to Berwick.

Cross the tracks at Kemper Williams Park and head down to the Levee. You’re chances are pretty good seeing one but be careful because both sides of the road are private property. Just make sure you stay on the main road and dont get off.

You see them a lot around Sicily Island. One walked through the drive-thru at the bank a couple of years ago.
