I exclusively fish south Louisiana waters (both salt and fresh, but more salt).

For specks - baitcaster on 7ft rod (curado reels, Castaway rods)

Redfish - baitcaster on 7ft rod (Garcia reels, Garcia rods)

shallow water rigs - Tidewater reels on 8ft surf rods - I love the casting ability of this rig up and yet its still sensitive enough to feel trigger fish and mangrove.I have caught anything from red snapper and mangroves to lemons, sharks, grouper, big reds, etc

freshwater - I mostly panfish and catfish, so I have some lightweight shimano spinning reels on 5ft shimano rods for perch jerking

catfish - Garcia reel with Garcia rod

what some combinations you enjoy?

I have 18 fly rods and reels
probably 10 that are dedicated saltwater
probably 6 freshwater spinning reels
I think 4 freshwater baitcasters.

Bass -
Shimano Curados, lots of Curados. With a couple Chronarch Ci4's mixed in. Most of my rods are Bass Pro Carbonlites, but I recently started getting custom rods from a friend. My most recent on is a spinnnerbait rod built on a castaway blank (instantly became my favorite rod)

(2) Stadic Ci4s for light weight stuff for bass

To small for me. I can't even use one of my pirogues. Just sucks. Used to be able to just stand in them. Many years ago, a old man had me build one for him. That fellow was around 70 or better at the time and I was around 22. He had one lung due to cancer. He would pay me to load and unload his pirogue and to go fishing with him. Many bottles of wine with him back then. Best part, this fellow at the time rented a house to me. This fellow taught me more about how to catch Sac a lait then most people ever knew.

Mr JC. I still think about you.

Reels: mostly Lew’s, a few Abu Garcia, Quantum, BPS, and Zebco

Rods: Denali, Lew’s, Duckett, BPS, and Cabelas

I have some older rod and reels also sitting in the corner of my closet. Mostly older BPS stuff.

It’s time consuming but it isn’t hard. Biggest issue is that the 1st 2 or 3 will look like crap as you learn the ins and outs of wrapping.
