Just cleaned my gun from hunting doves in the rain yesterday and I am about out of rem oil. I figured there are better options for wiping down my guns.

Told by a really good gun smith all he uses is Rem Oil.

I use slip 2000 grease and oil. I have used anything from motor oil to fancy expensive greases. They all work the same. Slip 2000 just seems to last forever, I haven't bought new grease or oil in years.
Nothing wrong with remoil, it just doesn't seem to last as long as grease.
We put motor oil in the bottles when we ran machine guns.

Use Lucas gun oil on moving parts and CLP for general clean and lube.

I mostly use Lucas
I do have a quart of jet oil that a friend gave me.
He's a pilot and said it's really good stuff. I haven't opened the can yet (yes, its a can of oil like motor oil was in the 70s and early 80s).

CLP 99% of the time. I do lightly grease my rails on handguns though.

Snake Oil, $32 for 2 oz.
Oil is oil, grease is grease. After being drilled in the service that CLP was absolutely necessary I got an ME degree and learned just how much BS I was fed. I use synthetic motor oil, and if I want to use something thicker on slides I have a tube of SuperLube grease somewhere that I use for anything and everything, not just guns.

Mainly CLP. I do occasionally use Rem oil.

It cost about a 1/3 the price if you buy it from an industrial sewing machine supplier vs a gun supplier.

If this thread goes long enough eventually every gun oil will be named

if you are trying to preserve the leaf springs on your boat trailer use hypoid 90 gear oil. it does not evaporate and soaks into the space between leafs.
Do not use this on guns as it will gum it up
