Was doing BARF, but now that I have a kid that roams around I use Fromm. Merrick is also a very good brand.

By me, Jefferson Feed. When I was in BR, it was a dog store off of Greenwell Springs. Normally, smaller places will have the better food. I actually feed my dog Orijen Adult during the spring and summer, and EVO red meat during fall and winter.

I feed my pup Ol' Roy wetfood. She loves it and her coat has never looked better.

Purina pro plan sport. It's the only thing that will keep weight on my dogs much less make them gain weight.

I buy it on amazon and have subscribe and save. I haven't ran out of dog food in 3 years. It's the best thing ever. The price is near or is nearly the best.

I can't remember which omega it is, but I think 3 is the one that makes my dog's coat look awesome and keeps him from getting dandruff

I've got a 4 year old German shepherd. We did eukanuba, got inconsistent poops. Went to blue wilderness, still inconsistent poops. On top of that, she didn't really care for either of them. We finally switched to science diet per vet recommendation, she loves it, fixed everything. As for weight, I wouldn't worry about it too much, she will continue to fill out for another year or so.

Regular ol chicken grease does it better than anything.

They'll be able to shite through a screen door without hitting a wire, but they'll have nice hair while doing it.

Both help with the skin but it's the omega 6s that improve the coat shine and reduce flakiness. Omega 3s are better for inflammation and skin barrier. A combo of them both is ideal

Taste of the wild. I switch up the flavors everytime I buy a bag. Doesn't effect them in the slightest. They love it. Usually runs around $45/30# bag for my two hellions. One thing to keep in mind: the higher quality foods have less filler so they eat less and poop less and the same weight goes farther than your typical dog food. I always recommend grain free, and high protein is important for active, working or sporting dogs.

FTR, the whole grain free thing is a giant marketing thing. Nobody has ever proved that dogs need grain free or that they cannot tolerate/digest grains (exactly just the opposite actually)

If a given dog does better with that particular diet then don't change anything of course but it definitely is not a rule for all dogs.

I probably went through 10-15 different foods to find what my dog likes and suits him well. Lots of diarrhea

I'm in the same boat with our 3 year old lab. He's developed some kind of food allergy in the last year that gives him awful yeast infections. Stinks to high heaven and causes him to itch hot spots and such all the time. Doc suggested I try some different foods. Went grain free first, and that didn't do it. So now we're trying chicken and grain free. Currently feeding Diamond Grain Free Beef and Sweet Potato for a little over a week. Yeast infection does seem better. It's expensive, but if he stops stinking up the place, it will be worth it.

If you've found something cheaper than that food that is Chicken and Grain free, I'd love to hear what it is.

Of all allergic dogs at least 85% have environmental allergy rather than food. Much more common and is way more likely in a dog between 1-3 years of age.
