FTR, the whole grain free thing is a giant marketing thing. Nobody has ever proved that dogs need grain free or that they cannot tolerate/digest grains (exactly just the opposite actually)

If a given dog does better with that particular diet then don't change anything of course but it definitely is not a rule for all dogs.

I agree on the grain free. But not corn. The rotten and moldy corn they dry grind and triple bake is nothing more than filler. At least the dried tomato and beet pulp is full of antioxidants, fiber, and keeps their blood sugar level. Better for them in the long run as most dogs eventually go diabetic and the owners never realize it.

And like said, a lack of corn usually means more digestable calories per lb.

Of all allergic dogs at least 85% have environmental allergy rather than food. Much more common and is way more likely in a dog between 1-3 years of age.

So what would the environmental allergy be? It's year round, even when he's not in the water much. Our house is all wood/bamboo flooring. His bedding isn't anything weird.

Diamond Puppy High Performance. Good stuff. Get Red Cell Equine & squrt some in her mouth every other day. It has a shite ton of iron.

A lot of dogs with that are allergic to many things. Average dog on an allergy test will have 12+ positives to include seasonal stuff like grasses/trees/weeds but also indoor stuff like house dust, house dust mites, storage mites, molds, etc... Things that can not be avoided and are present everywhere. Some are even allergic to human and cat dander.

There are a handful of studies done that have demonstrated the digestibility of corn and dogs' ability to use it as a protein source. It's more than filler. This is a common myth. I would agree that if it were the only source it's not as ideal.

My boxer seems allergic to everything. Went through a couple different brands. Settled on Blue Buffalo Wilderness, but she would scratch the crap out of her ears until they bled.

Switched to Wellness Core dog food and its like night and day. She loves it and no more ear issues.

Not probably gonna help the OP...but mine had stomach issues...and we tried IAMs and Purina Pro Plan...Blue Buffalo..Pedigree...everything basically BUT Ole Roy. No way in hell will I feed my dogs that crap...

We eventually went to a pet store and did some research...We have them on FROMM now...out of Wisconsin.

In the past 6 months...she's puked 1 time and that was likely because I was spun up and my voice was raised after they ate.

85lb black lab

I don't know measurements, so I'm gonna guess. He gets maybe 3 cups per day to maintain weight in the winter, and he is a pretty active dog. When he is gonna be out in the woods or water, I'll feed him 4

LINK

Eta: I don't put anything in it because it's pretty stacked with all kinds of animals. I have had him on a couple of different fish recipes, and it makes him stink and his hair gets very oily

My dad raised Beagles for rabbit dogs for damn near 30 years. Probably sold 200 healthy pups and trained most of them when the owners came back around with them for hunting season. We always had 2 breeder bitches, 1 male adult and at least 1 litter for 2 months or so. He fed them whatever table scraps we had left over Chuck Wagon dry and the Purina that was on sale that month. The dogs never had allergies or stomach conditions or crapping problems. The only things that killed the dogs were cars when someone wouldn't shut the gate and an over zealous 11 year old who thought Grunter was a rabbit.

At 10 months, she might not have a lot of big weight gains left in her. She's starting to reach her adult size. The rest of the weight that fills them out comes on slowly (compared to the initial growth)

I've jumped around a lot with food over the last 3 years.

1) Science Diet- Switched because the price was high compared to reviews
2) Diamond Naturals Grain Free- I liked this food and fed it until my dog started to not eat it as much anymore. Still not sure why since she was on it for over a year and never had issues before.
3) Victor Yukon River Salmon GF- Had a 5 star rating and was inexpensive at the local feed store. But as soon as I started feeding it, my dog's urine killed the grass in the back yard.
4) ProPlan Sport 30/20- Currently feeding this. Just started though. I'm monitoring to make sure it doesn't add too much weight. She's an active dog, but has spent a lot of time inside since we had a kid. She seems to love it so far and we have no problems with her finishing her food right away.
