Slip on in to the stand, I was going there for a reason.

Do you change plans if you spook deer near your stand on the way in?

Not at all, unless I know for sure it was a target buck I was after. Those deer see you more often than you think, and oftentimes they just bed down and watch you walk by. You aren't hunting those deer. You are hunting deer that haven't made it near your stand yet, whether you realize it or not.

The ones in the morning/ darkness I was sneaking as well as humanly possible. The deer were in the trail I was using. I got to within 40 of the deer and their eyes were fixed on the glowing orb moving towards them. They weren’t leaving, so I got behind a tree, thinking I’ll wait here til daylight if they don’t leave. Thats when they left. I was using a headlight. You are 100% not finding your way to that stand without one.

Deer can't even sneak up on deer. No human is doing it in any terrain. They might not care you are there but if you are close and moving, they know you are there.

Sometimes I’ll let out a few grunts or a buck roar. Often times the deer will slip back in to check it out.

every deer it’s too dark to see is a 12 point rack like a rockin chair, that’s my rule anyway.

I was joking. You can certainly sneak up on them if you have the wind but I was being sarcastic.

I walk into and out of my stands without a light. If I bump one, I pause and keep going.

If they blow and holler for a while, the hunt is compromised....

If not, enjoy the woods.

I pretend I'm an armadillo and shuffle my feet for about 10 feet and then pause like I'm munching on some grubs. Rinse and repeat to the stand. Gets em every time.

Depends if I have a thermal on my gun or not! Lol!

I’m pretty sure my best buck ever was bumped by me and then he came back 2 hours later pushing a doe.

This year i had a doe blow at me in the stand from about 25 yards away, then took off. Thought for sure my hunt was over based on the whole "might as well pack it in" mentality I've always heard. This was the first time I've been busted like that. 40 mins later I dropped a doe at about 90 yards. She didn't seem to care I got busted by another deer. That was my only experience.

Two years ago in the dark going to stand. 100 yrds from it I come across two Bucks fighting in field 20 yrds from me. Never knew I was there. It was all I could do to not shine flashlight on them. Hour in to the hunt a broken up 10 pt comes thru all kinds of marks on his neck and face. Def one of the fighters. I passed on him because of two broke tines. Never saw the victorious buck sadly. Should’ve shot the loser as it was my last hunt of the season and he was mature buck. They will come back through

I remote start the truck on the left side of the house and slip out the right side.. backyard hunter. I use to throw rocks at them and they would be back in short order.

My brother threw a bleat can at a doe which hit it, and yelled obscenities at it from his climbing stand before getting down. It was back 20 minutes later.

I don't worry when one is blowing at me or whatever. Had one blow at least 50 times this evening. It kept running off and coming closer for at least 15 minutes.

Had a doe blow at me once and less than 5 minutes later a buck came walking out less than 75 yards away. He was the best buck I ever killed.

I bumped a doe and a couple yearlings last year on the way to the stand for an evening hunt, they were feeding under the stand. Ducked down and snuck to the stand as they moved away over the course of about 15 minutes, couldn't quite get a shot off before they left, but they never blew at me.

2 hours later I'm pretty sure the same doe and yearlings came back out, yearlings first. She took one step out and stared straight into the stand, already had the gun ready and blasted her.

If they spook and leave they might come back.
If they blow and stomp and calmly leave, they still might come back.
If they blow 17 times and it sounds like a skid steer is going through the woods full tilt, they probably aren't coming back, but that doesn't mean other deer won't come through a couple hours later.
