Plus you have to at the least a two year PTECH degree and most have a four year BS or a lot of related experience to get hired as an operator.

Westlake always tried to retain good experienced hands if at all possible

I started that thing up in 1992 and ran it till I retired this past Feb.

Styrene unit doesn’t run batches
It takes several days to start up or shut down the unit
They are losing a lot of operators in other units to the LNG plants so hopefully that operators in plants being shut down will get moved to another unit.
