Texting other people hunting is always a go-to but I've started listening to audio books through earbuds. Clancy, Stephen Hunter and Lee Child books are my favorite. I can pass 2-3 hours easily listening to a good one. listened to one last year that damn near took the whole season... 62 hours.

What yall do?

Animal watch, sleep, post on OB, watch football game, walk around, eat snacks, daydream

I usually spend almost the entire day in the stand if I'm box standing it.

I alternate between playing on my phone and questioning if I picked the right spot to be in that day.

Typically I try to unplug as much as possible. Try to remember why I love to hunt... of course buddies text and stuff but I try to not deal with work in the stand. I don't get to hunt enough to do that. I will get out my phone and read my bible app or look something up from time to time. Some days the phone is unavoidable but I try my best to keep it put up and enjoy the woods.

I have found that the most productive thing to do is to look for deer.

I’ve got tired of sitting in the blind. Our shooting lanes are tight and we haven’t planted in awhile. the canopy grew over the trail so now sun hitting the ground. Now I just go out in the woods and sit on a log with a shooting stick. Not sure if I’m just lucky but I’ve killed 3 deer that way in the past 5-6 hunts going back to last year.

I will say, my back hurts after a few hours. It seems more like hunting though. I hear better and it’s more exciting when you hear something.

I get that but man if I'm mashin nuts in the box stand all day, I'm going for maximum candy arse. My days on the ground are for unplugging. I never even look at my phone on those days.

My season has several phases.
Early season bow,, climber sit and OB every so often and just relax and enjoy the hunt.
Rifle before rut- maybe hunt a box with 2-4 beers in my coat pocket and no intention of seeing a deer just going though the motions enjoying the season playing on my phone texting buddies.
Rut- in a climber 45mins before legal time eyes pealed looking glassing calling sometimes rattling but not playing on my phone and only maybe texting.

OB, of course. If stand hunting, I usually find myself glassing the same shadow/stump 350 times. The earlier/later it is, the more I can convince myself it is a deer. If kids are in tow, I just try to entertain them. Glass for whatever, draw, color, or whip that arse in mario kart.

Last two bucks I have shot have been on foot. I like to walk, sit, walk, sit, and so on when the opportunity is there.
