The Dummy Line is pretty good. It is written by Bobby Cole who is one of the Mossy Oak executives. Crime story set in a hunting camp.
Undaunted Courage is also an excellent read about the Lewis and Clark Expedition.

I’ve been reading SAR stories from national park rangers lately. Night of the Grizzlies based out of Glacier national park was one book that I could not put down.

I don’t read in deer stand.Where I hunt bucks are traveling across shooting lanes or high line.I usually have about 10 seconds to get my crosshairs on them and shoot.
Back at the house,I just finished book called TEXAS RANGER by John Boessenecker,it’s about famous Ranger-Frank Hamer,he’s the one that tracked down Bonnie and Clyde.Interesting read.

If you like reading about big game hunting in Africa get some books by Peter Capstick,Wally Johnson, Robert Ruark. Wally Johnson “ The last elephant hunter “ is a good one.
Edit. High Cotton recommended an excellent one,” Undaunted Courage “. By Stephen Ambrose. It’s fun to look at Google Maps while reading to look at all the points of interest.

Brad Thor books. Plenty of shooting and killing bad guys but nothing to really think about

I get this big time. I haven’t had a book in the stand in quite some time, but I don’t pretend I don’t read on my phone. It’s something that could help me sit later in the mornings and go earlier in the evenings. Definitely won’t kill one if I’m not there. If I had a book, I might go earlier on an evening hunt and set a time limit. Say 3:45 to 4:00 put it away for good. Of course you want to look up every paragraph or so to check for deer. If you see one earlier than you expected them to be moving, pack the book away.
Saturday I’ll probably be listening to LSU on in stand. One earbud in one out, you can hear the game and stuff going on around you.

Myself as well. Another great book is about a seasonal ranger called the "Last Season" by Eric Blehm fantastic book, but I don't want to give the storyline away. Also a true story.
Born to Run by Chris McDougall is another interesting read.
A Walk in the Woods by Bill Bryson

If you're a turkey hunter, or at all interested in Turkey hunting, get The Tenth Legion by Tom Kelly.
