what are common flaws y'all see in deer stands?

just trying to get creative. one issue i see with some box stands on the ms river is that they are always replacing them due to the water getting so high. the river will either float them away or just rot the wood.

I saw a stand where the guy had a shelf on the front and back of the interior of the stand. He used a carpet covered 2x4 to go between the two shelves to rest his elbow on to steady his shot.

Even Rednecks let water in. You’ve got to keep clean and do maintenance after the season with all stands. It’ll never be perfect.

Generally just shitty to shoot out of.
The whole reason I'm there is to shoot something. Build the thing so that it's easy to shoot out of. Worry about everything else after.

In my opinion, Antler Shed with the drop windows is as close to perfect as you can get.
You have to get some cover for the back windows if you’re in a sunny area though.

Not putting some carpet up the walls around the bottom. Kids will always end up kicking the wall and making racket.

I'm probably in a minority here but i'm not a fan of the mesh seats on most ladder stands. They are comfortable but noisy when I lean back in 4 of my 5 stands.

Only one of our boxes have windows. The one that does all the windows get opened when I hunt, it gets hot without it, and I’m not trying to not get a shot off because I have to open a window.
My biggest complaint is a roof that slopes towards the ladder, go hunt in the rain and the rain is pouring down on you, and putting an office chair in a 4x4 box that takes up most of the box floor

Mine all have 41” shooting rail and a shelf there. No windows and openings are 6” tall all the way across. 5’x5’ is perfect.

a big issue that i see is whenever the window is not high enough for the shooter or what not. my idea is that what if you have an adjustable window in it that can move up and down/ side to side for the shooter so that they can get off a comfortable shot

im thinking that if you could make a stand with an anechoic material that would work pretty well for the family man that is hunting

My biggest issues are usually sides too high and nowhere to rest my elbow.
For me, 39" is the ideal side height, and a shelf all the way around, 4" lower than the ledge to rest my right elbow on.
