Happy New Year OB! I know we have a daily IST/IBT so I figured I would start something for us who prefer speckled trout to speckled bellies.

Where is the OB planning on fishing this week? I am thinking of hitting up Black Lake in the yak on Saturday if the weather cooperates.

As a bonus: it looks like the #9 state record Sheepshead was caught in Lake P over the weekend.

Spent this past weekend looking for water, no luck. Will be somewhere this weekend, unsure where as of yet.

Where do you launch to get to Black Lake in a yak?

My local fishing is fricked. Having above average rain which is keeping my rivers high and looking like chicolate.

We ran out of Fourchon this weekend, and water was nowhere. We ended up pulling some Black Drum from a deep hole, moved by the rocks and found a school of Reds, but they were mostly too small to keep.

Fished PAC & sulfur mines Sunday. Super low tide and mostly dirty water. 1 red caught early, not a bite after. This fall has been rough for me asides from a couple roadside trips.

Black Lake
Wait, which one?

For me, it's swim bait and bama rig time at Indian Creek.

There is a launch at the end of Devall Rd in Hackberry. I think it’s a $5 launch fee.

You and No8 have about the same amount of luck as ClassicGold and I have when we fish together.

Fished Fausse Pointe this past weekend. Water was really high and muddy. Didn't catch a thing. Looks like more rain this weekend.

I did see three does swim across the canal right in front of me. They were being chased by a 6 point buck. He saw me when he got to the bank and took off in the other direction.

I may try Martin. I can usually still catch fish there even after rain and the basin is high and muddy.

How is that area? Me and some buddies have looked at going on a fishing and camping weekend in the spring. We were thinking of going to one of those paddle-in primitive spots.

Couldn't even get a catfish to bite this weekend around Bay Antoine area.
May not make another trip until the weather warms up being that school starts this week.

Was a beautiful day regardless on Sunday though.

Went all over Delacroix on Saturday. Where there was water, it was river water. No reds or specks. Guess it’s just how it is everywhere right now.

prepare thy anus for a tough year

pelicans are finding no food in the marsh and are lining up in roadside ditches scavenging for ditch minnows

there will be another pelican die off from starvation this year and we dont even know if there will be a hard freeze yet this year.

looks like the next few years will be smaller numbers of fish but with less competition they should be averaging larger fish you do catch.

Why the shortage of bait ya think? Results of last winter? Even hwy1 roadside has been slow this year for the most part.
