Took the wife out Saturday morning to quarantine the n the Kenner. Hit black lake with a bucket of skrimps and red fish in mind. Ended up with 4 keepers and as many 15.5” throw backs. My Wednesday reef only produced 1 trout so we bugged out in search of flounder. Tip; cut the belly off of a trout and add small strips to your gulp for flounder. Caught 6 founder on multiple drains and saw some coonazzes from St Martinsville I waved over to admire his rig. Guy was running a homemade 20x48 with a 150 merc tiller. He claimed 64 mph top end before it got squirrelly:)
Sunday afternoon I hit turners for an afternoon Wade. All we found were small trout, deep water with a high tide like I have never seen before.
Will try them again this afternoon.

Went to Hopedale with the wife and pieced together a good box of sheephead and 20 or so specks Saturday morning. Went back out for a few hours in the afternoon solo and caught a limit of reds and 7 more specks. The amount of boats on the water was absurd. I’m not complaining because I saw more families spending time together than I ever have. It did make covering water a bit of a chore but it was a great trip.

Took the wife/dog to Cat Island Friday to catch bait and drink beer on the beach. Went to Biloxi Marsh saturday and ended up 8 keeper reds and a few specs. Cruised the Jourdan river yesterday for wifes birthday.

Pops and I hit up Big Lake on Saturday and had a tough time finding fish. Fished the east bank and only had one stud trout. Went to one of my go-to spots and found a few more trout and some flounder as the tide was just starting to bottom out. Lost another 6 flounder at the boat. The most frustrating thing I have ever experienced. Ran into Black Lake, to try and catch the incoming tide around noon and found clean water but no fish.

Weather looks like shite on Friday, Saturday and Sunday so I may have to wait until next weekend to head back.

Went to 3 Mile Saturday morning and caught about 20 sacs, channel cats, and a couple keeper bass. This pic was taken halfway through the trip (if anyone is questioning the # of fish)

Buddy and I grinded for 17 keeper Trout on artificial in Delacroix Saturday, was TOUGH all day then had a magic lil spurt at a beautiful point that had the incoming tide and bait ripping around it. Tide and bite died shortly after the flurry

My son and I left out of grand isle and hammered the sheephead spawn bite on close in rigs
Every cast on live shrimp
Could have filled the boat with them but kept only enough for me to clean without spending 2 days doing it

Fished Toledo and caught around 35 bass on Saturday. We also found some whites and caught around 20. Could have caught more, but got tired of fooling with them.

I look forward to this every year. Hopefully they'll still be there this weekend.

Went to Reggio in search of Trout, came upon a kayak tournament I didn't know about which put a lot of pressure on the spots I wanted to hit. Wind reports ahead of time said they'd be out of the ESE by 10am and from 10am - 12pm they were dead out of the north.

Pressed on with the plan anyway, caught 10 15.5" reds and none above that before finding a trout spot that an idiot boater blew through after 3 trout. Called it a day, will do better next time.

Got three bites

Could not get on plane with new prop. Too much air, and the holes are not the right size for the new Merc plugs. I think I found some old plugs. Hoping they come in soon.

Went bass fishing in north Mississippi and only caught 2. A personal best 7.5 pound largemouth and a three pounder. It was one for the memory books.

Man we caught hundreds of these one time at GI, and I became a pro at cleaning them. Easy as can be.
Start at the tail, go up dorsal fin, (there is a small gap the knife will fall right into it) and basically scoop the meat out away from ribs. You almost can’t tell you even cleaned it when done. All the skin, scales, bones, etc left on the fish. You basically get the tenderloin if you will.. keep a dozen extra next time and try it.
Sheep head cut into chunks and soaked in pure milk for a few hours and then fried is heaven. Wonderful sweet flavor

Something a little different...

While they are common in some places, they are very rare here. This is the first one I have been able to take. I was pretty happy about it.
