re: Inexpensive golf lesson in New Orleans area?
Posted by rouxtab on 4/7/25 at 2:58 pm to The Pickwick
Drew Goff at Audubon is great at a solid price in the grand scheme of golf lessons, $115/hr in Sim Room, $105/hr for on-course work.
He does an awesome job of quickly identifying the source of swing issues and providing very clear and easy-to-understand solutions

Canyon is pretty darn difficult, but cool to look at with all the elevation changes. Hole 4 was goofy hard off the tee with just no options at all besides a perfect tee shot. Hole 6 is pretty tough as well.
Does anyone think Gallman can take Mike Davis' role and make something of it? Gallman was pretty awesome in an equally shotty offense last year as a runner toward the end of the season
This has been my biggest irrational hunting fear for years, getting out the stand and heading back after an evening hunt
re: Chrome soft golf ball
Posted by rouxtab on 8/13/21 at 8:44 am to makersmark1
Found a Chrome Soft X the other day and after chipping with it I thought it might be a defected or refurbished ball painted to look like a Chrome Soft; sounds absurdly clicky.
ProV1x, Z Star XV, and especially TP5x sound or feel clicky to a degree, but nothing like that ball.
If you want to feel the other end of the spectrum for fun, play a hole with an "X" series ball, then play the next with a Callaway Supersoft, it feels like a bouncy ball

Sorry to Hijack, but has English Turn improved?

Completely agree

This article from Thefriedegg on how courses can discourage bomb and gouge was super interesting. I'm not sure if I completely agree with his assessment of the 30-60 yard shots and the ball's effect on their spin, but thought the article brought other great points nonetheless

Push cart 1000%
Pros:
-Less taxing on your body (if only for 9 holes or less it becomes more of a debate but for 18 it's a no doubter)
-Gives you more opportunities to walk without being miserable (if it's 100* I'm in the cart anyway but for that buffer temperature zone between cool and hot weather that has you not wanting to walk with a bag covering your sweaty back but not feeling like riding, you can push and still be "walking" your round. I think this one combined with the one above is the biggest factor.
-Drink Holder/Handsfree Umbrella Holder for the sun and rain
Cons:
-Have to buy one
-Need a spot to keep it
-Deploying it/Putting it away each use (doesn't bother me but I see how it could get annoying)

Someone help me sleep better
Std scoring
David Montgomery or Gallman
Just have this feeling Montgomery comes home with 55 yds and 15 receiving yards no TDs..
Then can anyone make the case for JuJu over Diontae Johnson? Do we know for certain that the Cincy No. 1 CB is covering Diontae?

Got a TecTec a few years ago, fairly inexpensive as far as rangefinders go (most likely could get it for cheaper than the link below if you look somewhat hard) and it works very well until about 275 yds for pins then you may need a bigger target than the flag to laser after that (never matters for me, ha) ... and just laser a few targets on the range, find the club that consistently flies it there. Then just anticipate a slight margin of error for range balls

The BRCC one is sweet though, deserves an exception from the hate list
Carter Plantation's could be decent if it wasn't so filled with color, maybe if the gold and the white swapped roles

If you’re looking to save a few bucks but get similar characteristics as the premium balls, Taylormade Project A balls are sweet. Super high wedge spin, and very similar long game characteristics as TP5.
Rick Shiels did a video and said it might as well be part of the TP5/TP5x line.
Bridgestone Tour B XS is also a sweet ball and noticeably long, lostgolfballs.com hasn’t had them in stock for a little while though

Santa Maria ~$55
Beaver Creek ~$55
Carter $72
All consistently good,
Honorable Mention:
Pelican Point ~$70/75
