Yeah, we have a ice machine, but 4 five gallon buckets doesn't make a dent in that fish well and others need ice as well. We're thinking about doing the same thing. Block ice was all we used years ago.

Starting to pick up momentum, after re-reading this thread I think I'm looking for a boat that "runs on a pad", not a heavy boat that can eat up rough water. Other than shearwater, what are some other examples of this type of boat?

Skeeter is probably the most similar to Shearwater imo

And they are bad to the bone. They aren't cheap though.

Anyone have an opinion on Epic boats 22sc?

I'm sure I have said it before in this thread, but I have a 24 pathfinder and it takes a rough sea quite nicely. I will recommend one thing if you get a boat like a PF, get trim tabs. Trimming my tabs down just a hair greatly increases the quality of the ride.

I would definitely recommend checking out the Blue Wave Pure Bays along with Frontier and Nautic Star
Don't have any real experience with the Frontier, but they look really nice and I've heard very good things. To me they look like they have everything you really need to have a great fishing boat, just don't fancy it up as much to keep the price lower than the upper tier boats.

You send me a check and I'll buy a shearwater.

My kids go throw a gallon of milk every couple days. I wash out the jug and freeze them.
I keep two liter bottles for that. They stack nice in the bottom.

I saw an Everglades on the road this morning so I added them to my list. Searched them on boat trader and promptly deleted them off the list.

Seeing a lot of different motors out there. I know the story on yamaha's f "series" motors. What's the scoop on the following:
Mercury Verado
Mercury optimax
Yamaha v-max
Yamaha hpdi
Yamaha sho
Evinrude etec
Suzuki 4 stroke
Note: if "they're garbage" is your answer for any, please back it up.
