Any reason to avoid buying a tundra with 100k assuming reasonably good shape and maintenance done. Around that point in miles seems to be the best value to me

No reason not to after a good inspection. It'll be awkward, but crawl under it and look for leaks

People need to get out of the mindset that 100k miles is "high mileage". Pretty much any engine made in the last 20 years can last hundreds of thousands of miles with regular maintenance.

My 2012 has 132k and still rolling like brand new. Only thing I've done was change the oil every 10k (fully synthetic) and change the tires.

Especially a Toyota. Just bought a Highlander with 98k and it feels like it’s brand new.

My dad has a 08 tundra with 185k, drives 75 miles daily for work. Only thing he has done is tires and a brake job. Regular oil changes as well. No reason to be worried about 100k on newer vehicles these day, next truck will be a tundra though no doubt!

You can buy a brand new titan for the same price and get a 5yr 100k bumper to bumper warranty included plus you’ll get better mpg

I purchased a new 4x4 Tundra in July of 17. I currently have just over 28K miles and I really like it. I looked at the all the models - SR5, Limited and Platinum / 1794. The SR5 is pretty bare bones. For example, a Ford XLT seems to have a lot more extras then the SR5. I was going to get a limited but for like 3K more I decided to get a Platinum. Well worth the extra 3K.

Engines are only one component of a vehicle that wears. For example- 08-13 Silverados have a notoriously shitty front end.

You talking about the front diff? GM trucks have always come with tiny joints up front, but unless they went to a much weaker diff in '08, I haven't heard anything about that

When is the first major service for a Tundra? Let's say it is at 100k. It would be better to buy a truck with 110k that had had all it's major service done than one with 85k that will need it's major service in about a year.

Replace spark plugs at 120,000 if you consider that major service

100,000 Miles
Replace engine oil and oil filter (0W-20)
Replace engine coolant – Super Long Life
Rotate tires
Check installation of driver’s floor mat
Inspect and adjust all fluid levels
Inspect wiper blades
Inspect brake linings/drums and brake pads/discs

Checking the driver floor mat is high priority at Toyota. It's listed on every service interval.
