I absolutely would NOT get an LS. My buddy has one and it’s been In the shop about 8 times in 2 years. It’s currently in the shop now in 2 pieces, leaking seal between engine and transmission. I would stick with JD or Kubota.

I have 130 acres granted probably 120 are wooded and I bought a Kubota L4701 4x4 hst and it has treated me well these last two years. Have the 72” bucket, land pride 6’ rotary cutter, 6’ land pride grapple, 5’ box blade, 5’ grader and a set of pallet forks. Granted I am not mowing 20 acres of pasture but for what I do I wouldn’t want the cab.

He may have a lemon, but most LS owners I know are highly satisfied with their tractors.

I inherited my dads Farmtrac 435 that he bought new in 2005. It looks to be a heavy , well built tractor. Well, they went under in 2008 ish and parts are scarce to say the least. They were built in part by LS/LG tractors.

quote:

Tractors have been sold under GoldStar, Fiat-GoldStar, LG, LG-Fiat, LG-New Holland, LS and LS-New Holland names in South Korea. In North America, they have been sold as LG Montana, Montana, Farmtrac LandTrac, LongAgri LandTrac, McCormick Tractors and Landini.

I’d stick with JD or Kubota if you will have the tractor for awhile and need parts and service. Just my .02

Unless you’re buying a package deal, if you want quality implements for the best price find buy Titan implements.
You can get them to match any tractor color.
A lot of dealers are carrying them in addition to the tractor brand they carry because the price is better

Go by any John Deere dealership, and look at how many of their products are being worked on in their shop. They love selling all those high prided JD parts. Same with Kubota. So does that mean don't buy a John Deere?

There are many quality brand tractors on the market besides JD and Kubota, like LS, Mahindra, Massey Ferguson, Ford, Case, etc.

The key there is that they work on what they sell and you can get the parts that you need.
I’d rather pay more and be able to get parts than have a piece of equipment out of commission.
I have a Farmtrac now that needs work. There’s a dealer in North Carolina that sells some parts and another in Oklahoma. That’s pretty much it unless you source parts from
India. If it wasn’t my dads I’d have scrapped it already .
It’s a good tractor as I’m sure the LS is. I just worry about the long term parts availability and service at the dealers that sell them. Without that they aren’t worth much. I’d rather spend more and have that peace of mind.

Well that settles it.

Go check out Sunshine in either Covington, Franklinton, or Hammond. John Deere has several tractors that will work for the HP you are looking for. Also, John Deere is highly competitive with Kubota now and even cheaper on certain deals. Service is most important and Deere usually wins after the sale.

5065E Cab with Loader. As mentioned earlier a 12' batwing is an option to cut down time. John Deere now has one on lots.

Why’d you wait three years to pass on this info?

I have to keep the loader on to keep the front down.

This is what pisses me off about new tractors.

I have a 10ft 1inch thick blade I'll throw on the bwck of an old international occasionally. Has no ballast or loader in the front. The tractor just weighs 5-6 unloaded.

To the op, if your pasture is open, the tractor is good to go. Also, I have never once removed my front bucket from the tractor

Heck of a bump, but I’ll take advantage of it.

I’m also looking for a tractor, but just for hunting. Just looking to plant around 4 different food plots, each one a half acre.

Any advice?

Pallet forks on a self leveling loader. By far my most used item.

I have a Deere 5075E that I absolutely love. Loader, 7ft bush hog, 7ft land plane, disk, sprayer wit 18ft boom and a spreader.

Love using it.

For your application though, it would be over kill.

I'd look at the Deere 3E series or something similar in Kubota.

Price range for something like that? A smaller used JD or Kubota tractor?

I’m assuming tractor prices are inflated right now just like any other vehicle

7-12k with a front end loader. 12k will also look new and be a 80+ HP unit.

But you can pick up a nice 2440 for under 8k. That will be 60hp tractor and will do anything you need. Is it as convenient as the little micro tractors? No. Will it still be running 100 years from now... Yea

I’ll be on the look out for one of those then. 60hp is more than enough for me. I’m thinking 40hp would be plenty

Don't be afraid of hours. Bring a temp gun with you. Make sure it isn't smoking, shoot the temp gun at the individual exhaust outlets, they should be fairly consistent, look for any leaks.

I've seen them with 10-20k hours and still run like new.

I have an 85hp John Deere and manage 150 acres of pasture thats seperate from the main farm. Its a little under powered for my 15' wing bushhog. But for 20 acres a 60hp would be more than enough. That way you have enough power to disc too if you wanted to on the 20 acres. 70hp would just be amazing for what you are doing!!!

Don't get a John Deere. I hate mine. We recently got a 2022 100hp CASE IH Tractor at farm and its been amazing. Look into those or Kubota
