Thoughts on Meopta scopes

I’m considering a Meopta Optika5 4-20 x 50 for a new Tikka 308. Will be used mainly for LA/TX/MS deer and hog hunting. Typical shot 100-200 yards. Longest shot around 400 yards.
Price is $480 at Bowie’s.

From what I've read Meopta is legit.
They are Czech made and supposedly extremely high quality.

I have two of them, great scopes,, especially for the price.

Good scopes but you do not need a 4-20x50 on 100-200 yd shots.
Upper level of 15 is more than enough and 12 would be just just fine.

I've got two Meopro 3-15x50. One is on a Weatherby Vanguard in 308 that is my primary deer rifle. No complaints. Great scopes for the price.

I have an optika5 and optika6. They are both fantastic. The 5 is on an AR10 and the 6 is on a sako85. Very pleased with both.

I would seriously rethink this and look at a 3-9 or 4-12.

Get the Optika 5 2-10. You don't need 4-20 for that short of distance. They are great scopes though.

I just bought a 2.5 x 15 44mm Optika6 and compared to my Leica scope, they’re neck and neck. I don’t regret my purchase- quality piece of glass…

I own two. MeoPro 3.5-10x44 and a Cabela's Instinct (made by Meopta) 4.5-14x44. I've had them for about 5 years, great scopes.

Very happy with my MeoPro from Bowie’s.

Thanks for all the feedback. I'm still relatively new to this so it is appreciated. The scope is what the guy at Bowie's recommended. I'll revisit and look for a lower upper end.
Sounds like Meopta are a good option though.

I've got an optika 6 in my safe that's waiting on a new gun. Really impressive for the money.

I've never heard anybody say they didn't like their meopta scope.

Heard good things about them, a few buddies have them on deer rifles but not 4-20. I'm no expert with scopes but even if its within 200 yards, for the price, is it bad to have the extra dimensions? Thats a decent price for the numbers if one were looking for a little longer sight I would think.

I dont like having a big arse telescope on my rifle. Heavy and big for no benefit at the ranges most people shoot.

I put one on my 308 two years ago and more than pleased with it hunting deer in East Alabama. Consider this a recommendation/endorsement.
