Go to the junk yard. Find a car with air ride suspension.

Steal the compressor out of the system fpr 20$. Wire it in and plumb a small tank. Cheap, reliable , onboard air.

Channel locks, gloves, 2 or 3 lb mallet over hammer imo, a few wire connectors, lineman pliers.

the wire cutter tool is nice and all, but a knife/box cutter should do

Extra spark plug, coil pack, bottle opener, lighter

I keep a pack of spare fuses in my bag after my A/C went out 4 hours from home in the dead of summer about 8-10 years ago. I swear we checked everything, but it ended up being a blown fuse. For the older trucks, my pops used to talk about always keeping a pack of Juicy Fruit stick gum in his truck in case his headlight fuse blew out. That truck was infamous for burning a fuse in the worst of situations, but he'd grab a piece of gum and use the foil wrapper to wrap the fuse to get us home.

Speaking of Kobalt, I have a US-made ratchet set I got back n 98 or so, the 3/8" ratchet needs a re-build - any of you hands know of a kit that will fit? I'm not trading it on that tawianese shite they sell now. so if not I guess I can use it as a decoy weight. thx.

It can substitute for WD-40 too so that's 2 for 1

Forgot about that one. Obama should quit worrying about mandatory backup cameras and mandate fire extinguishers instead.

I'm about to throw a LJ in the truck since I drive the causeway all of the time.

Headlamp is handier than a flashlight when you're broke down at night fixing something.

Gold Bond powder, Neosporin belong next to the TP in a ziplock.

As I think about it I'm pretty sure the walmart Slime compressor I have will make 75 psi, it takes a little but though.

That little extendable bar looks neat but this has easily been the most important tool in my truck:

24" breaker bar I bought at Autozone. I've used it on lug nuts and brake bracket bolts more than I could imagine. I can get a bit more torque on it over a 20" breaker despite the fact that I can't collapse it. I think just having a breaker bar in general instead of relying on the factory tool is important.

Other important things over the years besides a screwdriver and socket set:

Spare fuses
Air pump (slime makes one for a cig lighter)
Tire plugs
Common sense
