The Frustrating USPS

Hey guys,
I realize I'm just ranting, but I've hit the end of the line on my frustrations w/ USPS and its inability to reliably make timely deliveries. It all started in June when I ordered a 22 Nosler case trimmer. After 3 weeks, it still had not been delivered. It was a hybrid shipping using UPS and USPS w/ the final delivery from the latter. USPS tracking was useless as it kept saying it was being delivered on a date 2 weeks past. Their website was useless. Their "trouble shooter" voice mail ended up basically saying "Everything's running late b/c of Covid, but we're working hard to deliver your mail." I initiated an investigation w/ Midway and ended up reordering it (on backorder again). One week after reordering, the original order arrived. But that was just the start.
2. Two weeks ago I mailed a check and money order to our prairie dog hunting host in OK but it still hasn't been delivered.
3. Two weeks ago I ordered a 22 Nosler seating die from Brownell's. USPS tracking indicted it'd be delivered last Sat, but it hasn't arrived yet. The tracking just says "it's late." Friday my wife went to the local Post Office to check on it. They said the package has been in Shreveport (big city 50 miles away) for 3 days. The postal worker said Shreveport had not sent any boxes to her in 3 days. The worker also said many USPS offices couldn't get anyone to come in and work because they make more money at home w/ the Covid relief package.
4. I bought a scope from a fellow on a different forum. He shipped it Mon w/ expected original delivery Thursday, 2 days ago. It was also in Shreveport Fri. The updated delivery date was today, but didn't make it.
What's really frustrating is that I've received THREE packages in 5 days from Amazon this week on orders made Sunday (today is Sat)! So, Amazon orders are shipped successfully to me by USPS in a matter of days, but non-Amazon shipments take weeks!?? Does Amazon have some sort of preferred shipping w/ the USPS over other retailers? Why are Fed Ex and UPS still able to deliver on time? Just for curiosity, I've looked at the internet to see if there are any good ideas as to what's going on in general w/ the USPS. A lot of different theories, but nothing that really looks credible.
Ok, rant mode off. I feel a little better, although it'll be brief. Thanks for sharing my frustration.

And just think, this is the same group that will be in charge of your ballot on November 3rd if we move to the mail in ballot system...

I think fedex and UPS pay better. Probably a lot better.

I don't need to read any more to know you bought a case trimmer from Brownell's.
I quit buying from Brownell's because the shipping method they choose fricks their customers badly. If it even makes it, it's going to be days after they told you it would get there. If that's how they're going to treat their customers' shipping to save a nickel and I'm going to have to pay extra for shipping just to ensure I'll receive my package, I'll just shop elsewhere.
Don't reward Brownell's.
And, yes, the USPS is incompetent garbage.

Wow, Tiger!! You were VERY close. Actually, the case trimmer was from Midway, but the seating die that's been lost in Shreveport for 4 days now came from Brownell's. I order most of my stuff from Midway, but the seating die was a special order for Midway and wouldn't be in stock until late August. That may be about the same time the die comes in from Brownell's! I had a hard time finding the seating die so that Brownell's seemed my best choice. Midsouth wanted $12 shipping for a single die! Shipping charges are so unpredictable now days. Get it free from Midway a couple times a month if you have >$49 in merchandise (possibly w/ many items) or pay $12 for a single small item from Midsouth.

I have a Sig Romeo red dot I ordered from Amazon last Sunday. The last two days the tracking says delivery attempt was unsuccessful. My fatass USPS delivery woman hates to get out of the vehicle. I hate USPS.

Our entire small neighborhood got no mail for three days. Normally it wouldn't be that big of a deal but I had a pistol light due to be delivered. When it finally did arrive it looked like the carrier had just thrown it about halfway up my driveway. Thankfully, it was well packed and undamaged.

Ordered two spinning reels from Academy last Saturday. Projected delivery date was Wednesday, July 29. I’m tracking them each day as I’m prepping for a GI trip and wanted to get my two new reels mounted, spooled and rigged on the new rods. The reels were at the BR Regional facility (downtown, I assume) on Tuesday. All day Wednesday, they showed “in transit to next facility” which should have been DS. Next scan into a facility was in SARASOTA, FLORIDA! Here we are Sunday morning and I still have no reels. However, they are at least back at the BR Regional facility. Cannot believe Academy partnered with these morons for their shipping.

Yes, I've thought of that a lot!

I ordered some pmags last month. They shipped to my local post office then got sent 3 towns over just to be sent back before they finally showed up, 4 days after "guaranteed" arrival date.

I ordered 2x4's from Lowes which is five miles away and they missed delivery 3 times now. Next week will be 4 weeks since I ordered them.

ALL shipping sucks
I recently sent emails to sites I often buy from, asking that they don't use UPS anymore, or at least let us choose who ships.
I had a package the seller sent UPS with signature required. I went to the tracking link, there was an option to sign digitally, so I clicked that. Turns out, it doesn't mean anything, they still required a signature.
I got the "follow your delivery" link and watched on a live map, this was about the 3rd or 4th time I did that. What I've seen is, the fricking truck is in my area early, and several times came into my neighborhood before 3pm. Twice he was a block away, and drove past the turn to my street. He would then leave my neighborhood and drive miles away, wandering around without pattern. Once it stayed static and unmoving for 30 minutes or more, when I checked the address it was a restaurant.
At 8:30 pm I saw him back in my neighborhood... at 8:41 I got a notice that it would be delivered the next day, because I was not available to sign. I fricking saw the truck drive past my house.
I got on the 800# and yelled at customer service, they said he would not deliver it that night (despite the fact that he drove down a cross street in front of me while we talked); but at least I got them to redeliver the next day. They wanted to leave it at some "UPS dropoff location", which was a fricking Phone Repair/Gas Station/Nail shop a few miles away, in the hood.
I've had several deliveries come really late at night. One came about 10:45pm, on a weeknight. All UPS.
Fedex has been good. USPS has been good. Amazon minivans have been good. UPS drives me nuts.

I placed an order with Midway on 07/22 for two boxes of bullets. Yesterday morning the USPS tracking service said for the last 4 days the were somewhere in Georgia. I received them in yesterday mail. 13 fricken days...

Ordered my Ravin crossbow yesterday and I’m really hoping the free shipping isn’t the cheapest USPS option. I’m way too impatient for this thing to get held up for weeks.
I ordered some shorts for me and an apron for a buddy that likes to cook over 3 weeks ago and all the tracking says is that they’ll arrive later than expected. I’m ok with the owner of amazon being stupid rich, at least our stuff arrives on time.

Government logic at it's finest:
Our mail sorting facility in Lufkn was closed down and the work shifted to North Houston. Later it was moved to Shreveport, though it still goes through the hub in North Houston, so now packages being delivered to my house typically go from place of purchase through Houston to Shreveport then to Lufkin for delivery. Doesn't seem that bad until you look at a map and see that halfway between Houston and Shreveport is Lufkin. So my packages pass within 3/4 of a mile from my house on the way to be sorted again and delivered usually 3 days later.

I backordered a fixed mount for a dead air ghost that is in jail back several month ago. Got a shipment notification a week ago.
When I go to track I shows that is departed Austin but nothing else.
Yay

Funny you mention that
I have had at least five items in the last three weeks where the USPS marked them undeliverable
And then they actually came that day
And then Amazon gave me the money back even though I told them to their face that I got the package
There must be someone making money on this kind of retarded scam. Because I got like 900 dollars of free stuff for absolutely no reason I can figure out.

My wife breeds and sells tropical fish and snails to sell. So she gets an order and we send it overnight from a Bham suburb to up in North AL near Huntsville. Guy gets in touch with her 3 or 4 days later and says he hasn't received his snails yet. So we start tracking it and the idiots at the USPS sent it to Tallahassee for some reason where 7 snails sat for 4 days before being sent to Huntsville. So of course they're dead when they finally show up 7 DAYS AFTER WE SENT THEM.
We refunded him his $35 and started a claim with the USPS because overnight comes with like $50 insurance. Of course, they say they aren't gonna pay. Why won't they pay? Who knows. It's only $35 so it just isn't worth the time or effort to make a big deal about. Just a shite show all around.
