I'd like to go to Charleston or Georgetown. Or somewhere in between. I really want to pull my boat up there and spend a week in the fall.

Cabela's Bargain Cave has some good freshwater rods for sale:
St Croix Legend Ultra $100 off
Sage Respone $150 off
Sage Click reel
I have a bunch of the St Croix and love them. I have the reel as well. It's great for it's extremely light weight.

Is there really that much difference between the Allen kraken and the alpha iii
I have both, and the sealed drag is the difference, and I would say the kraken is the overall better reel. IMO the price for that reel cannot be beat. Plus, they look

Nice! Any pics of the fish?
Sorry, I just saw this
This might give away my identity, but oh well.

That's one hell of a fish. I ended up tying about a half dozen meat whistles, looking forward to giving them a shot.

They did awesome. That and a slump buster or anything that is similar to that should do great. I mean a fish every catch type of great. Rabbit strips are legit.

Great fish and shot. Those are some flashy reels

Gonna finally give this a try. Setup is an Allen Kraken 3 8wt w/ SA Mastery Redfish fly line. Rod pictured is a Helios 2 9wt my buddy is letting me borrow. I won't be using this combo, just wanted to put in on a rod to see how it felt. Pretty pumped to get it out on the water

That H2 looks like it's never been used. I hope your buddy doesn't mind you sticking a hook in the cork of his $900 fly rod

It has never been used.
I thought about it but it didn't make a mark. Already took it off and put it back in the tube. Gonna order my BVK sometime this weekend when I get a few minutes.

Good choice of rods
Don't get too spoiled with that H2 and congrats on the Allen reel

Here's a BVK shot from yesterday. Got into some nice wild rainbows on the west branch of the Delaware

How do you tell the difference between wild and hatch raised/stocked?

Just have to know if the water you fish is stocked or is wild.

Pretty sure they have both.

Hatchery fish have their adipose fin clipped.

I know that's one bc they don't stock that river.
In other rivers it's pretty easy to tell the stocked ones if it's their first year in the river by the way the fins look. The ones that make it a couple to few years can look very similar if they don't have a clipped fin

Is this true everywhere or does it depend on the region? I had thought that lessened color along with banged up fins from being in a tank was a pretty strong indication of a stocker. I'm pretty sure I've caught some fish on the Lower Mountain Fork that weren't wild that still had an intact adipose fin.

I don't think they cut them off in AR
Best way to tell in AR is their fins. They're beat to hell.
